Feliz Cinco de Mayo Eses!
May 5, 2005
First off, Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone! That said what better day to take a difficult exam, there are just tons of positive vibes in the air today. At least, that's what I'm telling myself. I'm working the circus tonight, my call time is 5pm, so I anticipate a long night as I've also got to go into athletics tonight as well. I'm definately not staying in 'Cruces all day though after all. After the exam I'll go raid the dontated books bin at Corbett Center for some good books then I'm heading home, I think. I might end up just going over to Athletics before heading over to the Pan Am. I mean seriously I'll finish up my exam around 1:30pm then take a 30 minute drive home just to come back up in two hours? Seems like a waste of gas to me. Maybe I'll just kill time in the computer lab, I'm good at that.

Tomorrow I start work at the Pic Quick, I'll be working the morning shift for my training but after that it's nothing but graveyard. At least now I wont have to worry about a sting op going down and me being cuaght without my alcohol certification license. Now granted you're supposed to be given a 30 day grace period that is to allot you the time to take the test and get trained at work but people can be assholes and I just know I would have been hassled until I snapped which so would not have looked good.

Busy Busy Day
May 4, 2005
Well I got my Alcohol Certification today, I am now legally able to sell, serve, and mix alcohol. It was such an anoying class as well. Tons of laws I had to memorize, and such silly things too. Like for an example in the State of New Mexico no minor what so ever is allowed to consume alcohol under the age of 21. In most states, Texas for example, if the minor is with their parent and the parent says that they can have a beer or whatever (after checking IDs to assure credibility) it is allowed. Not here in New Mexico, the minor can not be served and the parent could be charged with serving (attempting to) serve alcohol to a minor; and since you have to be alcohol certified in order to serve alcohol in NM th parent would more than likely be hit with a double whammy.

Another funny thing is that a person cannot have more than two unconsumed drinks in front of them at a time. So here is a scenario: lets say a man and his two buddies decide to have a picture of beer and a pizza after work one day, the man comes up to the bar and orders the beer, the bartender fills a picture than tells the man to go sit down and someone will take it out to him. Why didn't he just give it to the man? Because a picture (which holds apx 60 ounces of alcohol) is the equivalent of five drinks in front of one person, not to mention that the bartender does not know the state of sobriety that his other two companions are in or whether they are legal or not so someone has to check these things out before handing over the beer.

Despite all these strict regulations New Mexico is number four in the country for the most alcohol related deaths, we used to be number one back in 1993. I'd say that although these laws appeared to be working I'd have to say that now their absurdity are tempting people into breaking them. After all, it's been 15 years since we were pollled as the number one state with the most alcohol relatated fatalities. Fifteen years is a long time, too long of a time to have only moved down the rung three slots.

Tomorrow I have to take my last final, the dreaded Japanese Oral Presentation. I've spent a bit of time today memorizing it and I've pretty much got it down and now that I'm ready to take a shower and hit the sack my partner emails me about three different times with changes and none of the times can I open the file in my email on my computer. I'm going to have to go to campus a bit earlier than anticipated in order to take a look at it before meeting up with Jorge in order to practice the presentation before the examination. So troublesome.

Oh yes, I've gotten some of my grades for my classes this semester. Needless to say I havn't found out what my grade in Japanese is and I'll find out my grade for Government tomorrow moring, but here's what I know so far: CJ250 - A
CJ230 - A
Math210 - B+
Psy201 - B

Not the best of grades by any means, but certainly better than what I thought I would get. Government is hopefully an A as well unless I totally screwed up my last paper which would drop my grade down to a B at worst. If that were to happen though, in order to still get a decent GPA for the semester I'd have to get a A in Japanese, which I know is no longer possible. Hopefully I retained my A in Governement and I can earn a B or hell I'll even take a C for Japanese just so long as it's passing.

...wern't we supposed to be studying for finals?
May 1, 2005
Ooh, gotta love that ironclad resolve to get some studying done. I lasted what two, three hours? I'm such a lazy bitch. I'm back on the computer now debating whether or not to spend three to four hours plugging in the head coding to make all of Nanashi-Inc.net's html valid on all the pages. To steal Shikamaru's line, "it's so troublesome". But I am trying to get all of my sites compatable for any broswer. I think I'm going to stick colored scroll bars back into my .css stylesheet, valid codes be damned. I happen to like and prefer the scrollbars colored, there are just some layouts that it adds that needed pizazz to it. I'm glad though that when I built my fanlistings I coded them with valid html (4.1) and .css as I built them and checked them with the online validator, so there's one less hassle.

Did some fixing up around here too, mainly in the "Vistor" section. I hadn't really realized how big that section was getting, not as big as the "Joana" section but certainly bigger than I ever wanted it to get. I went through it, decided that a few sections could bite the dust and put up a few links to sub-pages that have been around here for awhile now, but never had any direct links. Much to some people's chagrin Nanashi is no longer offering awards. I'm tired of making tons of them a week, getting behind in everything else, only to see people put them up without linking them or even visiting the rest of the site. There are plenty of other sites that offer awards, there are even award sites out there so I figure why bother. Also got rid of the explicits pages as well.

Okay that's enough bitching from me.

Well Mercedes Lackey's newest book from her Joust Dragon series "Sanctuary" was supposed to come out the same day as "Alta" was released in paperback, it didn't. Publisher's date was pushed back to May 5, which is thankfully only four more days away. I found that out finally because I went to Barnes & Noble and asked about the book when I couldn't find it, they're the ones that told me about the new arrival date. While I was there though I did stumble across a great find though I found Lackey's "Burning Water" on the shelfs. For those not informed or just not the die hard fans alow me to elaborate - this book, the entire Diana Tregarde series infact, are out of print. They were published when Lackey was with another publishing company, but now TOR is re-printing them with new covers and everything. On the back of the book are smaller pictures of what the other two novels, "Children of the Night" and "Jinx High" will look like as well. ^_^ Christmas has come early! Yea, yea I'm a bookworm I know. Ooh, did I mention that I'm eagerly awaiting the latest books from Rowling and Harris as well? Those are due out in June.

And now you know the real reason why I picked up another job for the summer. Yup you guessed it, money to spend on books. Arn't people my age supposed to spend money on booze, clothes and shit like that?

3 Down 3 to Go!
May 1, 2005
Yoshi! I've gotten three finals finished so far, got three more to go. I just finished my Math230 final today (of all days on a Sunday I know) and my Psychology final was Friday. Technically there was no final for my Government class as it was just a third paper I had to write -so yea that class is finished.

Tuesday I have my CJ finals. 230 at 8:30 in the morning and then my 250 final is at 6pm that night. Oh yeah I'm making green enchiladas on Tuesday for CJ250. We're going to have a party the night of the final, more like a pot-luck really. I think the instructor said something about him bringing a honeyed ham. Yea, like I said it's going to be pot-luck. Yup, yup. I know for certain that some of my less than admirable classmates are going to BYOB. -_-' SOme people just have to ruin it for everyone.

Thursday will be my hardest-toughest-make you or break you- test. That is when I have to present the second part of my Japanese Oral presentation, joy oh joy. That performance will either save my grade or kill me. >_< Sucks to be me.

Oh yea, should have mentioned this sooner, I got the job at Pic Quik for the summer. I just need to fill out their employee packet on Monday and then take the alcohol certification test on Wednesday. Joy. Well folks I got rid of my job last time I worked graveyard at a gas station, and now I went and got the same kind of job (different station/company) once again. -_- Out of the frying pan and into the fire, huh?

Well I'm off now to study for my CJ finals, everyone wish me luck!
