Check Out My Speckfuckingtacular Spring-Break Plans
March 18, 2005
Bleh, everybody else is probably writing about some exciting places and parties they'll be attending in the week to come. I am sadly lacking in that department. Why the hell did I set a goal of achieving a minimum of a 3.6 G.P.A. this semester? While everyone else is partying and having fun do you know what I'll be doing? Studying, cleaning, and studying! This totally sucks! I have to admit however that its absolutely necessary though. My room is a disastor are, actually the whole house is. Most of the time I too wiped out to be bothered to do much more than pick up and put a few things away. So a little straightening is order. The bulk of my vacation time will be sadly be used to catch up and get ahead in all of my classes. There only what four, five more weeks left of the semester?

After Spring Break I have another exam in Psychology which I absolutely must get an A on. I've got a 77% in that class right now, so not good. So re-read the chapters, listen to the lectures and copy down notes. Before you ask, yes I actually take a tape recorder with me and record the lectures -_-' I'm a nerd I know.

There is only one more assignment, one more possibly grade to earn in my Government class. The assignment is actually easier (I think) than the previous ones, but it will turn out to be the most difficult for most since most people will put off the assignment till the last minute. The last assignment is to read either "The Cave" or "Blindness" by Jose Saramago and write a detailed report of the book and the type of government system portrayed in it. Never heard of either of them before this semester. I picked "Blindness", its an "international bestseller" and won the nobel prize for literature. Anybody ever heard of/read this friggin book before? Ooh let me write one of the reviews for this book up here:
"A Shattering work by a literary master." - The Boston Globe

Riiiight. The book was written back in '95 and he's got a whole list of other "best sellers". I've never seen any of these works on any best sellers lists. *sigh* So anyway, I'll be reading this thing over haru-yasumi (eh heh ^_^' spring break) and writing up the paper so its ready and out of the way. The paper isn't actually due till the end of the semester (final's week to be exact), but for once I'd rather not procrastinate.

But before Spring Break even rolls around I've got another Math exam to pass. I've currently got an 86% in the class (Satan is now doing figure-eights in hell) so I need a good grade to keep it there and/or raise my grade. I'm shooting for the neigh impossible, at least where I'm concerned, A in class. I'll settle for a 90 or 91%! That test is Sunday so everybody wish me luck.

Oh, I should mention that I've got a 102% in my CJ230 class - did I mention that I don't have the book for that class? I also have a 96% in my CJ250 as well. Another class I dont have the book for. The real kicker though is this; we had our midterm in CJ250 the week before, I got a [drum roll please] perfect 100%. One hundred questions, 50 multiple choice and 50 true or false questions. All of which were taken from our previous quizes and only three other people besides myself pulled off a perfect score. In fact there were five people whoul got below a thirty. Now thats just sad and pathetic.

Before anyone asks, I have no idea what my grade was for my Japanese Oral exam. Grades are never given till after the last oral exam s taken and some people were scheduled for Thursday and since one person in my class had to have some kind of dental procedure that has her moth all swollen and she can barely talk I doubt she did her exam on Thursday. However Momoma-san did say that we did very well and it was definately an A effort I'm hoping her and Henmi-sensei really did give us an A. That grade would really boost my grade in the class. I'm just horrible with conjugating verbs and nouns into plain form.

I'm okay if you give me a word like tabemasu and say change it to plain form. Even though -masu form is a plain form it can be conjugated into its dictionary form of taberu. But when you give me a word like ikimasendeshita, well now I'm there scrathing my head like crazy. I know that ikimasendeshita is past negative so it has to go to past-affirmative plain form and if I'm on my own or with friends I can conjugate it with little problem. But on tests and in class? Forget it! I spazz out. I seriously dont know how I got past last semester, well actually I do. Only the last two chapters dealt with that stuff, thats when we started learning that and until then I did well on the other chapters, turned in most of my homework, had good attendence, and did excellent on my oral exam. This semester though its tougher, since I never really mastered that concept I'm behind and struggling so needless to say I'll be catching up on that too.

I've got a lot of homework assignments to finish and turn in. Ack! Dont look at me like that. I did the stuff, it's just that Henmi-sensei's methods are different than most teachers. Let me explain. Our homework assingments are rarely explained to us and the instructions on the handouts are either non existant or are written in complicated kanji that we havn't learned yet. So right off the bat you're looking in a dictionary trying to understand your instructions. That's never a good sign. Then you struggle with the assignment and get it turned in only to get it handed back to you the next class period with a big red CR 13/03 or whatever day and month it is. What is CR you ask? Correct and Return. If you miss ONE problem you have to correct and return it, if its still not right you get it handed back with another CR and a new date on it. And until it's perfect you have no grade for the assignment. She'll make a note in her assignment book that you handed it in and had corrections to do, but until it is perfect and all mistakes are corrected you have no grade. This system of hers is very discouraging. But at least if you got like a 45 on the assignment and did the corrections you'd get a 60% at least when its perfect. She does award you extra points for fixing your errors. Till then though the assignments are pilling up on your end until the end of the semester rolls around and you realize you've still got a stack of assingments that still arn't "perfect".

So now you know what my Spring Break is going to be like. Psychology, Math, break-read book for Government, Japanese, clean, Psychology, Japanese, Math, Psychology and more reading for Government. Why the hell did I decide to pull an 18hr semester when I challenged myself to get such a ridiculously high G.P.A as a minimum? Okay, I'm thorugh whinning now. No really I am.

Positive note: I'll probably get to read Mercedes Lackey's new book in the Joust Dragons series "Sanctuary" if not this next week than the week after. The book came out the first of March but I didn't buy it since I'm buying the series in paperback and didn't want to change it by buying the hardback. So as you might have guessed I'm on the library's waiting list (3rd in fact) so I should be seeing it soon. Though whether I have a chance to read it is an entirely different matter. Ah who am I kidding, I'll make time! lol

Ah yes, the results of anime night!
1st place: Chrono Crusade
2nd place: Angelic Layer
3rd place: Elfin Lied

No one thankfully voted for Wedding Peach. I mean come on that anime makes Bishoujo Sensei Sailor Moon look positively serious and enlightening. No offense SSM fans!

I shall be signing off now, shit to do and all. I would like to mention though that I uploaded several of papers I've written for class with several more to come (I'm cleaning out the hard drive) and my second governement paper 'Post Modernism' has the best grade. Why am I pointing this out? It supports my theory that if I BS shit teachers will eat it up better than stuff I actually put a lot of effort in. I researched my John Locke paper several days in advance, wrote it up and proof read it several times and got a 90. I reaserch my second paper about 24hrs before its due for aprx. 3 full hours and then spend a couple of hours typing it up the night before its due and get a 95 on it. Go figure.

Coughing Up a Lung
March 13, 2005
Its been awhile since I last updated/blogged. I caught a cold Friday and I'm still trying to shake it. I hate being sick. My mind's all foggy, I cant think straight let alone focus, and motivation - forget it! Tuesday I have my first oral exam for Japanese, its ten short skits by memorization and I'm about halfway through memorizing them. On top of that I still need to finish the take home grammer quiz for Japanese as well. Normally I oculd work on it during my CJ230 class but since we're doing a tour of the Detention Center on Tuesday that wont be possible. Monday I have to get advised before I can register for my classes so that wont leave me much time to finish my Japanese presentation and the take home quiz, because I also have to be present for this semester's first Anime Night: Fight Night. I am now the assistant coordinator for Anime Night. Speaking of A.N. its run by the Union Programs Council at NMSU and I have to attend a UPC meeting on Tuesday at 5:30pm and then book it for my 6pm CJ class clear across campus.

So somehow I've got to get all my homework and studying done on Monday before going to get advised because in theory I'll only have an hour or so before I have to help set up for Anime Night which starts at 7pm. Once we get the shows started I can leave for a bit to borrow Valerie's textbook, since she'll be on campus working at the fieldhouse, so that I can look up the answers for some of the questions for the chapter 6 CJ250 quiz. Remember I dont have the textbooks in any of my CJ classes ~_^ (BTW I've got a 96 in my CJ230 class and a 93 in my CJ250 class right now). So much to do and so little time. See why I hate being sick, I cant afford to slack off or I'll get my ass kicked by my 'to do list' and everyone on it.

For Fight Night we're showing a couple of episodes from Chrono Crusade, Angelic Layer, and Wedding Peach. In theory everyone will cast their votes and the winner of the three will be the series we start off with. For the last half of the night we're going to show The Princess Blade which is a Japanese movie released by ADV. Hopefully everyone will enjoy it.

Either way I've got a sneaky suspiscion that Chrono Crusade will win. Its the series most likely to win the guy's support. I could be wrong though, at another fight night the choices were X, RahXephon, Fruits Basket, and one other I cant remember but Fruits Basket won, so maybe Angelic Layer will win. If Wedding Peach wins, I'll just show up every week to start the night off and step outside till its finished. No WAY am I sitting through that shit.

I must go now, too much to do and I'm hungry too! I'll just have to keep lacing all of my food and tea with Lobelia and pray I can kick this cold in arse before Tuesday.

. . .
March 7, 2005
Its been awhile since my last blog hasn't it? I'm so bad, I went to renew my Suncoast membership today and buy ONE DVD. So what do I do? I spend $108 instead of $40 max. I bought a Seshoumaru plushie (Inu-Yasha) volume one of Full Metal Alchemist dvd, and BubbleGum Crisis Tokyo 2040 volumes 1 and 3 of ADV's Essential Anime Collection. I already have the entire series of BGC2040 on VHS but I did need to get it on DVD too. Gah, I'm so horrible, I mean I still need to worry about my car insurance later this month and other bills and go and spend a hundred dollars on anime. Well, no more splurges for me for another two months -_-

Oh yeah, I finally got the approval email a few days ago so I am now the owner of Fallen Angel: The LadyDevimon Fanlisting. I've got most of it up so if anyone wants to check it out or even join feel free to visit it here.

Totally bombed my Psychology test so my grade dropped to a high C now. Otherwise I've got A's in my CJ classes and Government and a B in Japanese and Math. I have to get my grades back up they're slipping. I've got a vocabulary quiz in Japanese and a midterm in CJ250 so wish we luck in those everyone!

I managed to snag a paperback edition of "Alta" Mercedes Lackey. I made the mistake of going to Hastings before Barne's & Noble. Hastings actually had the gall to tell me that the book was not released in paperback yet, then changed their tune and told me the series had been discontinued! I was so upset, then I went to Barne's & Noble and needless to say they had the books there. I didn't buy Sanctuary yet though, I am however on the waiting list at my library so I'll be able to read it soon enough. Can you believe I've already re-read Alta twice now since buying the book on the first?
