A Little Bad with a Little Good
June 29, 2005
17 Days until book 6 HP: and the Half-Blood Prince is released!

Ah yesterday was so friggin awesome even though it was well over a hundred and two degrees in the shade. We got to see a lot of awesome bands, a few mediocre ones, and some that were just funny to watch. Offspring, as expected, put on a totally awesome show. Much to Mayra’s and my surprise The Offspring played only a few (like one or two) of their newer songs and instead played a lot of their older stuff, I was so relived. I hate it when a band only plays new stuff and forgets that it’s the old stuff that got them where they are. Mayra was definitely the smarter of the two of us, she stayed back from the guardrail and a little to the side so unlike me her ears aren’t still ringing and she’s not the one sporting lots of bruises in weird places. lol

Aside from The Offspring, who sadly didn’t take the stage until 7pm, we got to see Riverboat Gamblers, MxPx, All American Rejects, No Use for A Name, Finish the Fight, Fallout Boy, Switchblade Kittens, My Chemical Romance, Hawthorne Heights Dropkick Murpheys, and a couple of others whose names we sadly didn’t know. I think Mayra is now hooked on Dropkick Murpheys, prior to yesterday she had never even heard of them.

I didn’t get to see Shiragirl perform this year either sadly but considering the lineup of all girl bands whom they hand-picked to perform on their stage I’m not sure I want to. Two of those bands, whose names I didn’t bother to remember, looked (and sounded) as though they had put more effort into their stage costumes then their music – seriously.

Over all it was a great event and well worth the $28 admission I think. The event did end up selling out after all, apparently there were still tickets left on the day of the event but those quickly sold out. There were people all over the place asking people if they had extra tickets to sell them. By the end of the day I’m not sure whether Mayra wanted to hug me or punch me, it took her quite awhile to figure out I intended to pay her way the entire day. What was so funny was that Carlos figured it out long before she did and we and only run into him approximately five minutes earlier. So he started teasing her by asking if she wanted anything, anything else and then look at me. It went right over her head.

Well I had planned to scan some shots from the Warped Tour up here along with the ink version of my latest sketch but my computer is on its last breath as we speak. I’m actually up here on campus using the 24hr computers. The other computer labs are sadly closed for the holidays (They closed down yesterday at 8pm!) and those computer labs are the ones with the scanners. So it has been decided that Fred (Fucking Ridiculous Electronic Device) that’s my computer’s name, is to be laid to rest soon and a new one will be purchased to replace it.

Since I’m a bum and prefer to stay at home with my parental unit where I just shell out some dough for my groceries and help clean the house as opposed to paying rent plus utilities for an apartment, or shelling out much deniro to fix up the old house I was living at; I’ll be sharing the computer with her. Normally I’d be bitching and moaning about this but since she is an accountant who is finally going to get her own CRS number so that she can operate on her own instead of working for Del Valle Bookkeeping/Taxman Tax Services she needs a home PC to work off just as much as I do, if not more so, plus the computer will be a much better one than I could ever afford on my own. Lots of space, lots of power, and free internet; yes I know I’m a moocher. tongue

It will be nice to have a decent computer once again. It is so tiring to have to drive up to campus every time you want to do any graphics work, download media, or just print up your basic school work.

Depending on when I can borrow a scanner or the new computer is purchased and set up I might have to hold off scanning anything until after the 5th of July – according to the signs posted on the lab doors.

Haloscan also appears to be having some difficulties; for some odd reason even though there are multiple comments posted the comment counts only show one, but the messages are there at least so I’m not going to complain. They’ll fix it when they fix it, no need to get snarky about it like some people are over there in the forums.

Thank you: Bronnie, Hannah, and Miranda

To Work We Go
June 26, 2005
2 Days until the Van's Warped Tour!
20 Days until book 6 HP: and the Half-Blood Prince is released!

I havn't blogged anything in a few days basically because I didn't want to keep ranting about my job. I had four (unwanted) days off just to go into work for two days, last night and tonight, and then I'll be off for four more days. Ah but I can't yell at Jay he did keep his promise to get me more hours this week. Yes instead of only getting twenty-five hours I get a whooping twenty-seven.. . and there was much rejoicing. I am so damn tempted to call in sick tonight just to put them in a bind to try and find a replacement but alas I'll probably go in to work tonight after all. In all the years I've worked a job I've only called in sick once, and that was quite awhile ago to boot! So yeah, I probably won't be calling in sick tonight - but oh the temptation.

I finally got my pictures back from Wal-Mart and they turned out crappy. I've got a few more rolls to develop yet but I'll take those ones to Walgreens instead. After Tuesday I'll have even more rolls of film to develop! I told a few people what I was going to do for my bud's birthday present this year and the majority of people's responses is: "can I be your friend". lol Itake it that means that my gift isn't as bad and aweful as I thought it was? It still seems somehow, impersonal, yet I can't find anything that screams "Get this for Mayra" like I normally do. I bought Mayra's ticket for the Van's tour (she's still under the impression that I'll let her pay me back) after the event I'm taking her out to eat as well. I wanted to take her out to Pelican's (very pricey) but I'm thinking I just might take her out to eat at Bennigan's, Applebee's, Si Senor, or Outback Steakhouse instead. I'm not sure Pelican's has food that she would like where as I know for sure that one of those resturants she'll like. Either way it's her choice and my treat. So now I've got a list of a bunch of people's birthdays and bands they like to see and places they like to eat at. big grin

I've been working on a new drawing (finally!) recently. I'll be posting the finished pencil sketch soon. I scanned it up a few days ago and posted it a few mboards that I like to go to for critique and help. So look for that soon guys!

Well I guess I'll go get ready for work *cringes* I hate being responsible.

Thank you: Miranda

Kitty-Luv!

9 Days until the Van's Warped Tour!
27 Days until book 6 HP: and the Half-Blood Prince is released!

Well I had my Mom go to Wal-Mart for me last night since she has a far more pleasent temperment than me and even she was a little upset at their incompetance. Apparently my pictures still arn't in, a whole week later now. uhh I really dislike these people.

My hours got cut from 36 to 25 hours a week as punishment for getting overtime. So essentially I'm being punished for someone else's hijinks. I wouldn't have gotten overtime for two weeks if Vero hadn't called in sick and I had to come in and cover for her. Since time goes in on Fridays and we get paid weekly it affected the next week as well, especially since some people *cough*Angelica&Mando*cough* don't like to get to work till 7am and don't actually start shift change until at least fifteen minutes after, add another five or ten minutes for paper work and is it any wonder why I got a couple of minutes overtime the following week as well?

When the schedule was posted I asked Cher about it and she said that in order to keep people from getting over time they cut hours so there would be no chance of overtime anymore. Plus since I'm graveyard and they went and hired all these people for graveyard, there are just too many now for that shift so hours had to get cut. This is just driving me bat-shit crazy, I'm being punished because of other people! Not to mention I'm suposed to be full time and now I'm getting part time hours? This is just bullshit. I even warned Jay that if I came in to cover for Vero I would get over time and he said it would be okay, but apparently it wasn't. Then he promised that no one's hours would get cut with the new people being hired, again he lied. Jay opens Monday morning so tonight when I go in I'm going to look at the schedule again, see what my exact hours are, and then confront him when he comes in. Poor guy already talks with a high pitched voice, he might end up talking in alto after tonight wink

I'll tell you one thing though, I've learned my lesson. If anybody calls me to cover for somebody again I'm going to just say no. evil It obviously doesn't pay to help people out, not when they turn around and screw you over for it. I'm also looking for another job to help suplement my paycheck. I'm thinking of going ahead and getting the paperwork rolling so that I can apply at the Detention center and with the Border Patrol. I need to go ahead and get some actual work experiance in the law enforcement field and this is definately the time to do it.

It still makes me laugh sometimes when I picture myself ten years down the road being addressed as Officer Rodriguez, Agent Rodriguez or something like that. I used to be such a troublemaker in elementary and middleschool, even in high school I was still causing some mischief. Hard to believe I'll be on the otherside of the interogation table soon. lol Well at least when I have to deal with delinquents I won't be snowed by their stories or antics, I'll have pulled most of them myself.

I got my Grandfather a new 20' flatscreen tv with built in dvd player for Father's Day to put in his bedroom. He seemed to like it, but he's kind of hard to figure out some times. The old one of his was going out so I though "why not?". My Mom pitched in to buy him some new dvds to go with the tv. Over at Ft Seldon they were having a Father's Day activity event that I really wanted to take my Grandfather to, but sadly there was no way I would be able to drive all the way home to get my Grandfather than drive all the way out there and spend the entire day out there. If we had gone for only a couple of hours we wouldn't have been able to do much because most of the activities were all day events so...yeah. *shrugs* It would have been so cool though, there was going to be battle re-enactments, a camp settup enactment, outdoor cooking, and even tutorials on how to make "red-eye" breakfast. For those that don't know, Red-Eye breakfast is essentially substituting very strong coffee for gravy and oil to cook your food in. I've never tried it so I can't vouch for it's taste, but I would like to give it a try. Hopefully next year they will do something similar again.

I wanted some emoticons for my weblog so I've been searching the net for some different ones than the typical ones you see. I was going to get some anime ones at first then I stumbled upon the ones you see in this entry from Cattery-Index.com. What do ya'all think of 'em; do they look ugly, a little too big? Be honest! Now the title of this entry makes sense doesn't it? I've been sprucing up the weblog a little bit at a time recently, I even changed my icon to one featuring Temari. More to come soon though.

Last Day of Rest
June 17, 2005
11 Days until the Van's Warped Tour!
29 Days until book 6 HP: and the Half-Blood Prince is released!

Ah man but my "weekend" has come to a fast end and tomorrow evening later today it's back to the grind so I've been just chilling and being lazy today. Updated some of my sites, read a ton of fanfictions, watched some DVDs, bought System of a Down's "Mezmerize", and went to see a movie. I told you it was nothing but a laid back and lazy day.

I went to see Batman Begins today and let me say this; the movie was definately better scripted and directed than the other Batman movies. It was weird seeing Katie Holmes in a lead role in a movie like Batman, I'm still used to seeing her staring in teeny-bopper stuff. I don't want to ruin the movie for anyone but I will say this. Comic fans, even though the movie dosn't follow the comic's storyline exactly, it is still wonderfully done. Villians we get to see this time around were Scarecrow (Cillian Murphey) and Ra's Al Ghul (Ken Watanabe). Unlike the other Batman movies we do not get to see Hollywood's version of how Scarecrow or Ra's Al Ghul came to be "bad guys" as per the norm with the Batman movies, so die hard Batman fans can imagine Dr. Crane's history as the one we're all familiar with. Despite Ra's Al Ghul's appaearence in the movie there is no mention of the Lazerus pit or his daughter, Ra's Al Ghul is merely a fanatic (that didn't change) in charge of the League of Shadows and Bruce Wayne's mentor and trainer.

I seem to recall though that in the comic books Bruce Wayne trained under "The True Master" where he had to accomplish a formidable climb to the top of an ice covered mountain and prove himself worthy before beginning training. Later on doesn't he even send Dick Greyson on a quest to seek out The Master, or am I confusing the comics with the cartoons again?

Anyway the movie was definately worth the five dollars I thought, plus I got to sit in a nice cool, dark and air conditioned room for two hours while the temperature outside was a scorching 103 degrees in the shade. ^_^ Go see it!

There was one downside to today though, I went to pick up some pictures that I had dropped off Saturday night (early Sunday morning) from Wal-Mart which should have been in by now and weren't. The old man at the desk was so rude about it too he was all: "well they're not you'll have to come back again tomorrow". Nevermind they should have been in yesterday, today at the latest. When I asked him what the point of telling your customers when their pictures will be ready if you wont have them on time was he got all butt-hurt with me and whined about how kids today didn't appreciate hard work and how rude I was. Hello, my pictures arn't there and should have been and you tell me to come back tomorrow and they might be - yeah I'm going to be a bit peterbed.

I've had Wal-Mart (one on the other side of town) lose my pictures before when I dropped them off and that incident started off just like this one. Pictures supposed to be ready two days after drop off and not in, week later nothing, and then being told by some pimple faced brat that Wal-Mart could not locate my pictures and was I sure I had dropped off the film (even though I had the slip still). They had the gall then to tell me that Wal-Mart was not liable. I certainly hope that history does not repeat itself here, but either way from now on I'm developing my film at Walgreens using their 1hr service.

Oh yeah, check out this quiz I took. I had to take it since people are always calling me a nerd. I expected to get a pretty low rating on the nerd scale and instead I get a higher than most grade. So people really are justified in calling me a nerd.
I am nerdier than 54% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

So Sleepy Still
June 13, 2005
15 Days until the Van's Warped Tour!
33 Days until book 6 HP: and the Half-Blood Prince is released!

I just woke up a little while ago and I am still so sleepy. Hopefully I dont fall alseep while trying to eat because with my luck my face would fall into my food, but it is just chicken so it wouldn't be too messy. lol Hey you have to look ont he bright side of things right?

I have to go into work tonight at 10pm but then I'm off for three days, so tonight shouldn't be too bad. Yesterday I was just so sleepy and tired that Oscar and I hardly did anything, seriously we just kind of half-assed our jobs last night. Like instead of taking the cappucino machine apart and srubbing it and it's pieces and filling up the compartments we just added new powder mixes and rinsed the nozzles off. Endcaps wern't hardly touched, slow day, so I left those alone in favor or stocking the cooler and cleaning it out.

During the day the refrigerator stand for the deli broke down and the two girls on duty "rescued" the eggs and tortillas and put them in the cooler along with some energy drinks, kool aid and lemon juice bottles. The most perishable of food though, they left in the fridge and continued selling throughout the day. I'm talking about the sandwiches, the butter, cheese, chorizo, packets of ham, turkey, bolgnia ect... So for the first forty minutes of my shift guess what I was doing, yes that's right emptying out the deli display and transfering all of the food to the cooler. I wanted to just throw it out but alas I suppose we have to take inventory of it first or soething. I got the nasty feeling that some of that stuff is going back out on the shelf to be sold. I'm glad I never buy food from the deli there, now I never will.

The day couldn't end fast enoguh yesterday. It's because my neighbors kept waking me up so I really didn't get that much sleep. Most of my shift was spent alternating from super-hyper (too much coffee and soda) to dead tired. Sad thing is even though we half assed our jobs the store looked better than it usually does when Vero has been on shift. Ouch, that was mean.

I did do one stupid thing though. The Krispy Kremes guy was late so when he finally pulled up I went out to meet him with the cart. When I was going back in with the fresh delivery the cart caught the corner of the side walk and tipped over and bam, donuts everywhere ^_^ Jay and Oscar were just laughing at me, even the Krispy Kreme guy. So mean I tell you! lol but it was funny though, luckily the guy had extra racks of donuts and gave them to me, no charge. I only lost some custard filled ones and iced chocolate cakes. Other than that, perfectly normal monring, I swear.

It's A Wonderful Life
June 12, 2005
16Days until the Van's Warped Tour!
34 Days until book 6 HP: and the Half-Blood Prince is released!

I'm such a bad horse. >:)

I was majorly pissed off at Angelica yesterday, but I got over it. Eight hours later (at least) she was still planning and plotting; it must be a grudge thing. Anyway after she got off shift yesterday she called back to the store to find out who was working the graveyard, and specifically who was working till 7am. Lorena, who talked to her, told her it was me and asked why Angelica wanted to know. Angelica told her and I quote: "that bitch fucked with me and if she starts her shit again with me I'm gonna fucking bring it". Okay, first of all this is a woman who is three years older than me (I'm 21), who has a three year old son and this is the level of maturity she's at? She had an entire shift, eight hours, to be mad and get over it, which she didn't. I got the impression that she didn't call back right away but probably around eight or nine in the evening so she held a grudge, started planning and plotting for fifteen hours? Over a little snit where she was sincerely in the wrong? Goodness gracious some poeple need to chill out. And I thought I was bad for being pissed off and hopping mad still three hours later!

Well when she had called in and pulled her little stunt I realized she was going to try to instigate something today and I decided to have a little fun. At Gadsden, the highschool I graduated from, you had to learn to chill, forget and move on. People there looked for trouble the way a bum looks for liquor and cigarettes. And if you weren't one of those in the "in" crowd, which I thankfully was not, you were always being hassled. If you couldn't chill and let the insults slide off you'd have been walking around in a funk for your entire time there. To quote a co-worker of mine "most people I know who went to Gadsden are like you, pretty laid back". If we graduated from there, than we survived. We learned to be able to deal with shit, but back to my story.

I thought about the type of person Angelica was and tried to come up with a redeeming quality of hers to focus on, nothing coming. So I thought about what I knew of her. She is an instigator, she was obviously deliberately looking to start something since apparently no one before has ever tried to really put her in her place, or as some people said, "stun her" like I did. A person like that is looking to get a rise out of you, so I decided that I would resort to an old mannerism I adapted when I was in highschool. You could either ignore people and stonewall them; which wouldn't have worked in this case as it would have just egged her on something fierce, or you can give 'em exactly the opposite of what they want. Today as soon as Cheryl arrived I put on my "freak facade" and just started acting hyper, happy and wired. I was smiling, chirping making little funny sounds, humming, hell I was even singing "I'm a Little Teapot". I was a Happy Person.

When Angelica arrived, sixteen minutes late, and started giving me her attitude I just smiled and nodded and bounced around the place. ^_^ I had customers smiling and commenting on how I could be so happy and awake this early on a Sunday morning, and I had her fuming.

Prior to all of this I had told Cheryl what Oscar and Lorena had told me about Angelica so that she could see for herself that I was not starting anything and was being "mature" about everything. Worked like a charm, picture this: bitchy blonde girl who comes into work looking for a fight, ranting and raving at her happy and nice co-worker who is trying to just do her job and be peaceful about it all. Hell when shift change was starting Angelica came over to my register looking like a storm cloud and Cheryl automatically steered her over to the other one and got on my register instead.

You know I feel sorry for the customers who have to deal with Angelica today, I think she was even grumpier after I left waving cheerfully at every one and saying "bye-bye" in my cute voice.

Well all that aside I had the best of compliments tonight. Before I started my fake "happy mood" routine I was just clownign around with some customers and before they left they told me "Don't lose that attitude, stay the way you are. People like you, Joana, are rare today." Isn't that one of the best things to ever hear someone say about you? I think I might post that for keeps on my "That's What They Said" page in the about me section of Nanashi. Normally you hear these sort of compliments from friends and family (or people who want something from you) not people you just met, it gave me a warm feeling and helped me to have an even better night.

Did I mention Long Way, my Virginia Slims fanlisting, got a new member yesterday? I'm so happy! The fanlisting has been open for a couple of months now and no one had joined yet, I was afraid no one would! I never quite realized how few people who are actual net surfers and prone to joining fanlistings actually like Virginia Slims. The Marlboro and Cigarettes (general) fanlistings have been growing b leaps and bounds but my FL, the Lucky Strike and Newports have been pretty slow growing. Bummer dude. (Did I just say "bummer dude?")

Well goodnight everyone, yes I know it is only 8:53 in the morning. :p I think first I am going to go read some blogs that I visit fairly regularly then I shall sign off and go to bed.

Sucks to Be Me :p
June 11, 2005
17 Days until the Van's Warped Tour!
35 Days until book 6 HP: and the Half-Blood Prince is released!

Vanessa stopped by the store tonight while I was training Amanda, apparently what ever I said to Jay had some effect. Despite what Cheryl and Nikol wanted Jay didn't write her up. Accodring to the gospel of Jay, it is not fair to punish Vanessa for an accident that occurs one night that others do over and over during the day shift and never get written up for. Mando is always at least ten minutes late, and he's a friggin assistant manager for crying out loud!

Last night was kind of shitty though, it was fine until shift change actually. Angelica came in today and once again she clocks in then spend ten minutes jabbing on her cell phone instead of comming over to the regsiter so either Oscar or I could start shift change - oh and did I mention she didn't arrive till 7am? If her shift starts at 7am then dosn't common sense tell you to at least be there five or ten minutes early and that once you are clocked in then it is time to work? Well we got into a big row about it. I asked if she was clocked in and ready, she responds that yeah she was clocked in but was busy (talking on her cell phone) and to wait. Three minutes later, still on the phone. At that point I said it's after seven I'm starting the shift change oh boy did she get mad.

I lost my temper with her when she called me bitchy and told her to just fuck off. I mean we even had a memo included with our paychecks for the week about that sort of thing and she does it anyway. Then to top it off she accuses me of doing that same thing once when I clocked in and ate a burrito. Okay, first of all it took me ages to remember that day then I think about and it's like okay first of all cookie I was still a newbie; second of all I had just pulled graveyard the night before then I had to come in at 2pm the following day to help with a delivery, and I hadn't even eaten breakfast yet as I had just woken up; I wasn't doing a shift change though I was just there to unload and stock the delivers; and last but not least she didn't even let me eat my burrito but started ordering me to do this and that. All of this I pointed out to her as well as the fact that Jay told me about doing that and I hadn't done it since. That was the only example she could come up with and then it was ancient history and not even really applicable since she didn't actually let me eat and I wasn't there to do a shift change (like she was today) just to unload merchandise, check it in, and stock. Oh yeah, and since I was new I couldn't start until the assistant manager who was supposed to "train" me got there, and that was Mando who is always late.

Anyway, I've ranted about it so now I can chill out, hopefully. After I clocked out I apologized to Cheryl, who was there, about losing my temper and being onry with another employee. But because I'm a bitch, I told her the apology was directed to her, Pic Quick, Osacar, Daniel, and Mando not Angelica. I told her flat out if Angelica wanted an apology she needed to apologize to me first. She was the one who brought the cussing into the argument first, was the one in the wrong, and was the one who raised her voice first. I lost my temper, yes, and I did cuss, but I was certainly not the one who started it and certainly not in the wrong by demanding that my fellow employee follow Pick Quick's rules and be considerate to their fellow employees.

I do feel a little sorry for Angelica though, it must suck to be so stuck up and "better" than everyone else you work with; especially when no one likes you and those that do only want to have a one-nighter with you. Seriously, she had a car accident and the first thing everyone said was; "how fucked up is her pretty new car" or "guess her new car isn't so new anymore" . That's sad isn't it?

Rough Nite: Possible Long Day
June 7, 2005
21 Days until the Van's Warped Tour!
39 Days until book 6 HP: and the Half-Blood Prince is released!

Just got off of work a little after seven o'clock this morning and I cant fall asleep yet, so here I am typing in my journal and drinking a Seagram's cooler escape (Fuzzy Navel).

Last night was a rough night. First of all since I live kind of far away and it usually takes me a little while to wake up and get moving I usually wake up at around 6 or 7pm at the absolute latest. Truthfully though I'm usually up earlier then that on account of the fact that the rest of the world is up and about while I'm trying to sleep. It's kind of hard to sleep through the sounds of car horns honking, stereos blaring, kids yelling, traiffic, my phone ringing; well you get the picture. So I can generally manage 3 to five hours of uninterrupted or at least semi uninterupted sleep. For some odd reason I slept till I was awoken at 8:30pm, as you can imagine I was completely thrown off my game.

My shift partner was also late as well. Usually I come in at 10pm and she is scheduled to come in at 11pm. Well they changed her schedule and she was supposed to come in at ten o'clock last night. Nikol (another co-worker of mine) called her to let her know and to give her a wake up reminder but apparently Vanessa's cell phone was low on battery power and turned off so she never heard Nikol or my phone calls. By law there have to be at least two people on shift for the graveyard shift in the state of New Mexico by 11pm so I waited till 10:55 before I called Nikol back when Vanessa still hadn't shown up. Amanda was still at the store and eager to stay on until someone arrived. Nikol automatically called two of our assistant managers, Cheryl and Mando, who began trying to find someone to come in. About two minutes later Vanessa rang back to say she had just woken up and was on her way. I called Nikol back right away but her lines (cell and home) were busy so I called Mando myself and told him that it was an accident and that Vanessa was on her way.

Thing is Vanessa, before I was hired, had begun calling in sick for a day about once a week every week along with Vero because they were tired of having to work every day. She had stopped that and only Vero was calling in sick (at the last minute I might add) but the day before last Vanessa tried to call in sick, she was forced to come in anyway since no one could be found to cover her shift. Now last night she comes in late and all of this right before she's about to take four consecutive days off. Apparently she did this one other time and was written up for it. Everyone is getting a little tired of it and so Jay the other assistant manager said she would more than likely be written up and if Vanessa refused to sign the write up they would be forced to let her go.

I'm off tonight and under explicit orders by Jay to say nothing about this decison to Vanessa who is supposed to come in to work tonight. I feel bad though because Vanessa is a friend and if I hadn't panicked and just trusted her to show up and not called Nikol then maybe this wouldn't be happening.

On the other hand when i had gotten to work Nikol had told me that she had called Vanessa and gotten no word, and by the time shift change had finsihed and I had gotten on Mayela's register (aproximately 15 minutes after 10pm) Vanessa still hadn't gotten there. Nikol ordered me to call her if by 10:45 Vanessa hadn't gotten there yet. But Amanda was there. If Amanda had done shift change and left I could have bullshited anyone who asked and said my partner was in the cooler stocking. The problem with that though is that Vanessa didn't get in to work till about 11:40pm so her time card would have showed how late she was anyway and then my ass would have been grass for trying to cover for her. I even thought about not calling Nikol at all but Amanda was there and wouldn't leave until Vanessa arrived, and I had no idea how she would have reacted if I ignored Nikol's orders and not called Nikol and just waited till Vanessa got there. I even pleaded on Vanessa's behalf that it was a complete accident on her part and although Jay is the one in charge of the grave yard staff and generally backs us up I dont think he will be able to get her out of this mess this time.

I cant help but wonder if there is something I could have done differently to help her out. Did I do the right thing? If I had tried to cover for her she have ended up in just as much trouble and I along side her as well? I couldn't help but notice though how Amanda took note of the time when Vanessa did come in last night. I wouldn't be suprised if she tells everyone the moment she gets in to work today.

If it comes down to some sort of meeting or what not I'll stand by Vanessa's side though. I can already tell that Cheryl, Angelica, Nikol, and probably Amanda will side against Vanessa. It is questionable though whether Mando or Jay will try to defend her. Oscar, Lorena, and Mayela are likely to not get involved.

I can't help but feel that because of Veronica's recent shenanigans Vanessa is going to be the scapegoat for the other's frustrations. Vero has put us in a bind several times since I've worked there and it has pissed everyone, even the more mild tempered people off. Is Vanessa about to get punished for someone else's wrong doings?

AOL Bites
June 4, 2005
I've actually been trying to post this entry since yesterday but AOL has been down and I couldn't get online till now. This bites.

I've been contempalating a new look for MS lately, although I'm not sure I really have the time, or rather effort, for a really challenging layout. I've been putting in a lot of hours (see 36-40hr weeks) at work and since I work graveyard I'm pretty much dead on my days off since that is when I've got the time to do some running around to get my errands done. Hence why I've been neglecting my sites as of late.

The Van's Warped Tour is coming to Las Cruces on the 28th this month, and instead of working the event this time around I got tickets instead. Originally I had every intention to work the even then I found out who was headlining the event this year - The Offspring. I've been a major fan of theirs for awhile now so naturally I must attend. The count down to the Van's Warped tour is on, 24 days and counting.

I've arranged for two days off, the 27th and the 28th, so that I can spend the day at the tour. There are a lot of other bands coming to the area but I probably wont be able to go see them, not because of money for once but because of the sincere lack of time. So no Def Leppard and Brian Adams, or Motley Crue either. I'll just make do with the Van's Tour. By far the cheapest and best since I get to see more than your average two or three bands.
