Okay as some people know the phone lines are fixed and I am now back online at home *knocks on wood*. Gah, yesterday was such a pain though - and now begins my people suck arse rant. See first the technicians come over on Thursday and I had anticipated that they would just work on the lines from the outside well the tech had to come into the house to the part where the line actually enters into the house, which is sadly in my room behind my humongous bookcases. Well I was asleep it being six o’clock and I being a night worker and all so what does my grandfather do? He lets the man into my room! I woke up instantly when I sensed someone I didn’t know standing by my bed and what a way to wake up too. The guy is lucky that when I fell asleep I fell asleep facing my tv so I was laying with my head at the foot of the bed. The only weapon I had on hand was a stuffed toy, a red snake with a heart on it’s neck of all things My grandfather knowing I go into work that night decides he wants to go and get all his errands done on Friday. After all I “don’t go into work till that night”. The technicians thankfully come over at half past seven in the morning, and since I was up all night moving furniture around so the line entrance and phone ports and jacks aren’t blocked I’m dead tired. I tried to sleep in my Grandfather’s room but every couple of minutes Isis (my cat) kept scratching at the door to get away from the strangers and then when I let her in the room she didn’t like being locked in so I had to leave the door open she could whisk out and spy on the strange human invaders. Well when the techies finished they told my grandfather, who had just returned from Goddess-only-knows-where, that they were finished. I pick up the phone and guess what, still no dial tone. So I call repair again and they tell me the technicians have been called and will be back within the hour. By this time is already after 10am and I am starting to get drossy, so naturally my Grandfather says: “I’ve got to go to the post office, call me when they get here”. And so at ten till 11am the techies return and take a look at the lines again. Well one guy forgot to re-hook one line so he does that, still no dial tone but now when you call the line from another phone you get a busy signal instead of static. Progress? So the techie calls HQ and then we find out that one of my neighbors had troubles with their lines as well and the man who did that repair job screwed up and accidentally directed our output to the neighbor’s house. Now I don’t know all the technical terms but apparently that sort of work is specialized and only the two guys that were there couldn’t work on it themselves. Well the other guy was out on a call in Chaparral (forty minute drive away) and it was estimated that he’d be by in about two hours. So yes I stayed up to meet this guy too. I didn’t get to bed till after 3pm. Ooh, but the ranting doesn’t end their my friends. One of my good friends stopped by to visit me at work last night and tried to get me to hook her up with some beer. First off she’s underage, second it was after midnight, and third of all she’s an ex-employee. I told her couldn’t because of all the aforementioned reasons and also because the store itself has been coming up short and Sonia (our manager) had been coming down hard on us. She kept whining so I told her to go ask Oscar she did and said “he says he doesn’t see anything” then tried to grab a twelve pack and hide it under her hoodie I told her to put it back and that I couldn’t let her steal anything and that she wasn’t supposed to be in the cooler (because I was back there stocking) anyway. I left and she was right behind me but apparently when I got side tracked she slipped back in and grabbed four Budwiser bottles from a four pack and a six pack of Budwiser cans as well. Sonia didn’t come in today to open, it was Cher’s day so Oscar and I told her and that we told Vanessa that she’s not allowed. It’s all on camera but it still pisses me off. Vanessa only calls us now if she wants something and could care less if we get fucked over because of her actions. I can’t believe I felt sorry for her and the shit that went down when she quit. I can’t belive I even considered her a friend! What kind of friend uses their other friends like this, consequences be damned. To top it off she got pissed off when we got upset with her for wanting us to hook her and a friend up with the beer. I honestly can’t believe that I trusted this bitch and I felt bad about everything that happened to her. I could end up losing my job over this shit and all because some selfish little girl who likes to spend her money on lottery and beer who doesn’t care about the price people have to pay just so she can get her own way. Seriously I must be brain dead to have ever counted her among my friends! Hell the bitch couldn’t be bothered to call me or ask how I’ve been these past couple of weeks just because I wouldn’t go partying with her one day because I was working that night. Such irresponsibility and such selfishness! Gah, I’m just ranting and repeating myself now, I need to go hit something. Once again I am greatly disappointed in humanity. Oh before I forget, a lot of people wanted to see pictures of my new hairdo so I promise to get some pictures posted up asap. Thank you: Julie, Miranda, Moonia, Natalie, jess, & Tori @ 10:18 am

The heat wave here in New Mexico is officially over! It’s been cooling down lately, certainly no more scorching hot 106˚F days but the temperature usually stays about 95˚F at least during the day. Well these past two days it has been raining off and on not to mention it has been cloudy and overcast as well. Today though it has just been raining non stop! So here I am back on campus, I think I might end up pitching up a tent in the garden center of Wal-Mart since it is pretty close to campus. Two birds one stone. I hacked off my hair again yesterday, now it’s this cute little bob that is a little higher up than my chin. I left my bangs long though for the hell of it. Since my hair is naturally curly people keep asking if it’s a perm. No more embarrassing stories to relate today folks, lol. I’m just glad no one witnessed my last mishap, and that it wasn’t on camera either. You just know someone would burn a copy of it. There was a new guy working graveyard with us for awhile, Alex, I mentioned him before I think, anyway he’s not coming back. He got the whammy thrown on him when Rachel and I busted him for getting drunk on the job in the cooler. Plus Cher is pretty sure that he’s the one who stole $170 worth of lottery tickets (scratchies). Here’s the funny part of it all though, we found some of the alcohol he probably consumed and it was two bottles of clamato (chaser) and two tall-boys of Steel Reserve I bet some people have never even heard of that beer before, I know I hadn’t until I started working there. Well it is some cheap and nasty stuff. If you’re going to steal why steal the cheap stuff? What a loser! Thank you: Hannah, Jeanie, Miranda, & Moonia @ 10:21 pm

I just got off work and yet I managed to get a lot accomplished so now I definitely deserve to go home and get some sleep. I managed to stop at the laundry mat and get my laundry done, deposited my paycheck, re-ordered checks, and went shopping all before getting online to blog. You know I sound kind of lame talking about laundry and stuff in my weblog. I feel kind of bad though, I went into Wal-Mart with the intention of just buying a pair of jeans and some replacement shoestrings, and instead I notice they have a sale and walk out with three pairs, shoes, and shoe strings. What is it with me and Miranda and Wal-Mart anyway? I’m thinking the both of us ought to just live there; we always seem to be shopping there. Ooh, funny story. Last night while I was at I was outside cleaning the parking lot and I had forgotten that there was this big puddle of cat litter (used to soak up oil and gas spillage), oil and water in front of one of the pumps. Well as I was wiping down the pump I stepped backward into the puddle and slipped! My feet went flying out from under me and I landed flat on my rear in the puddle. To make matters worse I had worn khaki colored jeans last night because I was planning on washing my jeans today. The khakis were completely saturated in the filth so I had to run out to my car and find one of the jeans that weren’t too badly dirty (i.e. only worn once) and change in the restroom. Thankfully the stains all came out this morning when I washed the clothes. Gah, I am such a klutz! Well that’s it for me today, I’m really tired and just wanna hit the sack. @ 9:40 am

Well we finally got a new computer today. Its an HP that we bought from Staples. We were going to buy a Compaq Presario but in the long run with the immediate funds available the HP had the better bang for the buck. This one Compaq we were looking at sounded real sweet for only $799 but that price is before you have to shell out another $94.99 for the full memory and I believe it was another $39.99 for the cache that is advertised. Granted they came with mail in rebates, but on hand you actually had to have roughly $940 and for that price the computer is no longer a great sale. That “sale” was at Office Max by the way. The only bummer is that I lost some of the short stories and updated versions of some of my fan fictions. I’m going to try networking the two computers together this weekend to see if I can save them but it’s probably a lost cause. Everybody is so excited that the weekend is coming up and are all: “yeah Friday!” and me, well I’m like: “bummer it’s Friday already?” It’s because I’m going to work and all otherwise I really couldn’t care less what day of the week it is. Anyway, so here I am trying to stay up the whole night so I can get some sleep in before going to work tomorrow night and I haven’t a clue as to what to do. It’s funny I was bitching and moaning because I was going through internet withdrawal and now that I have it back I don’t know what to do first. I’m downloading some anime right now to keep me occupied, and I’m blogging obviously but after that I dunno what to do. I’ll definitely stop in on some people’s sites and I might read some fan fiction but other than that. . .the sky is the limit. I should probably work on the new layout for Memory Shrine but heh, I’ve already deemed it ugly and a disaster so I might just be creating something else. I tried to go for a simplistic design using different tones than I normally do and well it’s just plain ugly. I like the basic set up of the layout so far, but not the graphics I used or the color scheme. [edit]I have come to the conclusion that it is the navigation sytem I set up that detracts the most from the image I used, that and the dividers in the navigation. I've got an idea on how to re-work it but I'm still iffy on the whole layout really.[/edit] I swear it seemed just fine at 4:30 in the morning! Thank you: Miranda, Julie, & Hannah @ 12:27 am

Still no personal pc, dang it and a lot has happened since I last posted so here goes a quick recap of the recent events in my life leading up to today. Let’s start with some good news. I finished reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince a couple of days ago, awesome book although it did seem to lag a bit in the middle. What pleased me tremendously was the fact that we got to see a little bit more of my favorite character and what makes him tick. I’m talking about Severus Snape of course! I won’t spoil the book for anybody so if anyone wants to talk more about the book feel free to email me or something. I will say this though, I was dead on with my guess as to who the half-blood prince was, I’m such a nerd. I also went ahead and bought the sixth season of BTVS which was a good thing to because after Saturday night I ended up kicking back in front of the tv with some seven up and crackers and just vegging out. Saturday day I was sick and running a fever, my stomach was upset, I couldn’t sleep let along eat anything and keep it down. The day’s previous I had been told by my manager that there would be a new guy for graveyard who I was training. She then proceeded to tell me how he should be trained and what things I needed to make sure he knew to do and do correctly. So taking this in mind Saturday night my stomach had settled down a bit and I seemed to be running only a low-grade temperature so I went ahead and went in to work even though I really wanted to call in sick. When I got to work it was only to find out that Rachel had come into work two hours ago and was already training the new guy. Needless to say I was pissed off. One of my other co-workers even asked: “aren’t you supposed to be doing that?” So since there was a rush of people I took care of them and then told Rachel she needed to get on her register and help out so that I could go grab my cell phone. I then proceeded to call everyone who works graveyard and my manager and assistant manager to see if someone could come in for me, because seriously I was not feeling that well and the only reason I had come in was to train but Rachel completely took that over. No one called me back, no not even my manager and it was barely after ten when I called her. Rachel thought I was being bitchy with her about the whole thing and let into me but we were cool for the rest of the night and then we were both kind of pissed off at our bosses for their dirty tricks. See when Rachel was called in early she was told that she was training the new guy, she hadn’t tried to take over anything. And needless to say she was upset that 1. I was told I was training and so I had come into work when I should have been home resting and 2. no one would come in and cover for me. So I ended up working my entire nine friggin hour shift that night and, wow congratulate me, I only threw up once. One of the customers bought those cheese burgers you can buy in the deli stuff, you know packaged sandwiches and what not and heated it up. Well the smell of the food started turning my stomach and making me nauseas, but I thought I could deal and kept on trying to ignore my stomach I barely got through the next customer before I had to make a dash for the restroom. I hadn’t had anything to eat all day and so I had nothing but soda to throw up. I got to clean the restroom twice that night, joy. So after that crap the next day my appetite still hadn’t returned and I still hadn’t gotten more than four hours of sleep so I called in sick, which no one seemed to like whatsoever. Sonia even called Rachel and asked her why I called in and said stuff like: “just because she doesn’t get her way” and what not. Rachel explained to Sonia that yes I was upset because I was really sick but had come in thinking that I was needed and I was upset that I could have just called in after all and that no one would come in for me. Someone, probably Lorena, said I made a big scene in front of the customers, which I didn’t thank you very much, so Rachel said I was upset and her and me talked it out and were fine the rest of the night. Rachel then told Sonia that the reason I called in sick the next night was because coming into work the night prior hadn’t really helped me any because my stomach had settled down before coming to work but then after working there it had caused me to start throwing up again. Truthfully I though Sonia was going to write me up since she wrote Oscar up for telling Mando (Sonia’s son) that he didn’t need to tell Mando why he was using one of his sick days because it was personal, when he called in sick once. Luckily she didn’t, although I got one hell of a lecture when I saw her Tuesday morning. But I made sure everything was done and the store was spotless so she really didn’t have much to bitch at me for. Thank the Goddess for small favors! Here’s some funny little tidbits of the hell I caused just by calling in sick that one night:
* Due to the way the days fall there are five weeks in July which means that the 941 deposit for a business will be a bigger amount than usual. Overtime is time and a half which jacks up the amount of money that is owed on a 941 deposit. I’m always glad to cause a little bit of chaos in everybody’s lives! Ooh, here’s some good news to chew on for a bit. I might be able to finally get a computer soon. There are some Compaqs on sale at Staples and Office Depot that are actually reasonably priced so who knows. Thank you: Julie, Miranda & Hannah @ 11:17 pm

1 Day until book 6 HP: and the Half-Blood Prince is released! Well there really isn’t much to write about today. I had a pretty fun day, I got to sleep in and relax before I have to go to work tomorrow so that is always plus. Mayra and I went to see the movie Fantastic Four today. The movie was pretty good, hey it had Jessica Alba and Julian McMahon so I knew it couldn’t be all that bad. The special effects were awesome and the movie was definitely action packed and hilarious but it lacked something. Maybe it’s the fact that when I was totally into comics as a kid (not that I’m not) I never really got into the Fantastic Four; I’ve always preferred X-Men to them. Even when there were crossovers of the Fantastic Four in Spiderman and X-Men issues I never really gave them much thought so I can’t actually say how much of the movie is on par with the comic’s storyline if any. We’ve already made plans to go see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory next week, now that is a movie that is a definite must see for the both of us. We’re both die hard Johnny Depp fans, so anytime we get to see him on the big screen is bound to be a good day. He’s major eye candy! Off topic here a second, there’s supposed to be an X3 coming out soon, has anyone heard/seen anything about it? Well anyway after the movie we went shopping in the mall and ended up picking up some gifts for our friend Laura whose birthday neither of us got to celebrate with her this year. She absolutely adores Hello Kitty so Mayra got her this pencil case set from Coach House and I picked up a cute wallet for her. At first I was going to get her the Hello Kitty doll that’s dressed in a kimono (inside joke about me and my love of Japanese culture and language) but then I saw the wallet and decided that would be cuter. The wallet has a little music note on it which fits with Laura’s love of Hello Kitty and music, so yeah. I also, despite my best intentions went into SunCoast and ended up buying an Ed Elric action figure from the anime Full Metal Alchemist, as well as the newest edition of Shonen Jump – bad me. By this time both of us were hungry so we headed out to Chili’s for some grub. I haven’t eaten food from Chili’s in such a long time it isn’t funny. Well actually it is considering the reason I used to eat their food at all was because this guy who was absolutely besotted with me always used to bring me take out dinners from there when I was working graveyard at Sav-O-Mat. So I went with this basil and chicken parmesan pasta thing which was pretty good. Mayra was the smarter of the two of us and order this chicken strips plate that I was afraid to order for fear the “chicken strips” would be little tiny bits of meat surrounded in tons of hard batter, and ended up with this plate of huge strips that were simply to die for! The servings at that place are huge too, neither of us could finish them and so we ordered doggie bags. All in all it was a pretty tame but fun day, which is good since it has been a while since I had a fun day without reason or need to complain or vent. Seriously nothing has been able to seriously piss me off or bring my mood down. Tomorrow I go in to work so we’ll see how long this mood lasts Thank you: Julie & Miranda @ 12:47 am

2 Days until book 6 HP: and the Half-Blood Prince is released! Well I got my sketches scanned and posted as well as some pictures from the Van’s Warped Tour finally! I ended up staying up till around 2:45pm this afternoon or so in order to get them scanned and all. Well actually I was finished scanning the pictures at around 11am but then Tina and Nay rented some movies and got some burgers from Sonic so I stayed to eat and watch a movie with them. Tina and Nay watch just about any kind of movie but they seem to enjoy chick flicks a lot. Tina picked up this one movie Diary of a Mad Black Woman it was interesting to say the least. I can’t really remember the character’s names as by the time we got around to watching the movie I was starting to fall asleep. I watched up until the part where Orlando takes Helen out to eat at Chandra’s (?) and then drives her home. I started nodding off then and decided I had better head on home. It was an okay movie, more entertaining than most chick flicks, for sure. I got this one line from the movie stuck in my head still it’s when the other woman (Brenda?) returns from playing tennis with Charles and goes into her room to find her clothes strewn about and Madea sitting on the floor. “Call the po-po ho”. I went ahead and displayed the thumbnail of Sock It to ‘Em in the “Showcase” section of my menu on the right-hand side. I have the ink version of Battered Fey posted in my art section right now as well. I am creating a colored version of Battered Fey using Adobe as we speak so hopefully I’ll have that posted up soon too. And as promised here are some pictures from the Van’s Tour: Switchblade Kittens (1 2 3 4) were a decent band Mayra and I stumbled upon on the Hot Topic stage. Their music was decent, nothing to write home about, but their on stage antics, costumes, and just their personalities made them a much fun to watch then what they would have been otherwise. The Offspring (1 2 3 4 5 6 7) were the last band we saw that day and were definitely the best, but then seeing as how they’re one of my favorites I might be a little biased. The crowd went absolutely wild for ‘em and so security dudes were pretty much always blocking my shots so despite getting tons of pictures of them not all of the shots came out that good. What Noodles said that day still cracks me up: “…I want to make sweet love to each and everyone of you guys” Dexter: “And he can do it too!” Riverboat Gamblers (1 2 3) was a new band that I had never heard of before from Denton Texas, I was pleasantly surprised when I heard them perform and ended up buying a pin and their latest cd as well. Dropkick Murpheys (1) a speck-fucking-tacular band to see and hear perform live. They too had a large following and I sadly didn’t make it to their tent in time to buy some of their merchandise, I was so bummed. I wasn’t able to get too close to them as they were on one of the main stages and like I said had a huge fan base there supporting them. One of the fans made this awesome flag that they were waving I tried to get some shots of it but I couldn’t get the whole flag while it was unfurled. All American Rejects (1 2) another band I didn’t get a chance to get close up to either. It didn’t help that at this point Mayra and I were separated and trying to locate each other as well. Finish the Fight (1 2) is a local band from El Paso that got to play on the Local Hero’s stage. I’d heard of them before but had never actually heard them and they were definitely awesome. I also took some shots of MXPX, Laura from The Eyeliners and coincidently No Use for a Name as well but those shots weren’t nearly as good. Also, big shout out and thank you to Julie for her help in organizing my site’s content. *big hug* Thank you: Julie @ 12:07 am

4 Days until book 6 HP: and the Half-Blood Prince is released! Well I finally managed to get back into the lab here on campus to do some work on my websites. I’m not sure why but the lab that I’ve been going to is closing on the weekends all of a sudden and is not staying open nearly as late/early as it used to. I think the people that watch these computers just hang around while there are people here and then just leave early if there isn’t anyone using the computers at the moment. I used to be able to use the lab after I got off from work at 5 and 7am in the morning but these past two days the building’s doors were locked. Today when I came up to campus the doors were unlocked, this was around 6pm and I’ve been here since just trying to catch up on everything I’ve missed. I’ve never realized how much of my life revolves around the computer before. I’m so sad aren’t I; a complete and utter computer-geek! I even pay all my bills and do most of my shopping online too. Anyway, I’ve got today, Wednesday, and Thursday off so hopefully I can get some cleaning (at home) done and still have time to get up to ‘Cruces and use the computer lab. My friend Nay has a computer and tomorrow I might be using it, I’m not sure I’ll still be awake when she gets up, and so I might finally be able to scan some stuff up. Nay is an artist and has been trying to sell her works in a more productive and organized manner and is thankfully succeeding in her endeavor. Anyway I completely forgot that not that long ago she bought a scanner (duh I helped her set it up) so that she could scan pictures that she took of her works and send them to the galleries she’s showing her stuff at. I am such a lame brain! So anyway I finally remembered and asked her if I could her computer sometime and she said yes! Of course she normally doesn’t wake up until eleven and twelve in the afternoon and by then I’m usually dead on my feet so here’s hopping I can stay awake to get my stuff scanned sometime this week. After some serious thought I chopped my visitor content in half, I got rid of the less than stellar survey, and guess the lyrics and character stuff that I had there. You can find that stuff and variations of it on just about any person’s site so I figured that stuff had fallen into the category that I lumped quizzes with – meaning not going to be on my site. I went ahead and left the Dictionary of Terms, Pairings Guide, Audio Files, Doujinshi Scans and Free Graphics there though. I don’t really like my Free Graphics section anymore, but I’m not exactly prepared to toss them all out completely so it’ll remain for the time being. I also went ahead and moved the Book Symposium from my “about me” section to the visitor section, because even though it expresses my opinions of certain books it isn’t really about me and seems better suited to the visitor section. It was suggested that I take my “Essays & Papers” from the visitor section and place it in my about me section by several review sites so I did but it doesn’t seem to jive there. These are papers and essays that I wrote for my classes for people to read or download and it seems odd to have it lumped in with my biography, pet’s info, and pictures of me. My “Stance” page fits in with the about me section because they are my opinions and thoughts of topics and so that gives you a little more insight about me, but my papers and essays don’t really seem to fit that bill. I was thinking of moving it to my “creativity” section so that it would sit along side my poetry, prose and art but I’m not sure. Anybody have any suggestions? Please help! The countdown is still on until book six is released! Ooh I can’t wait until I get to read it. I finally got to finish reading “Every Which Way But Dead” and now after finally reading it I can’t help but feel that some people who wrote some very negative criticism about it on Amazon.com either didn’t bother to read it all the way through or were just looking for a way to vent their frustrations. Seriously some of the stuff that they claim isn’t even true if you read the book the whole way through you’d realize that Rachel wiggled out of being a demon’s familiar and so she could not possibly becoming an “Anita Blake” clone. I wasn’t going to write a review for this book but after finishing it I think I have to now. I’ve started reading “The Wolf King” by Alice Borchadt finally. I’ve read her other book “The Silver Wolf” but I had never bothered to read “Night of the Wolf” though as I could never get into it but I am giving this book a try since I did enjoy “The Silver Wolf” immensely. I love the summer time, I can catch up on all my reading! Thank you: Miranda @ 11:17 pm

8 Days until book 6 HP: and the Half-Blood Prince is released! Salutations everyone! Well the new air conditioner got installed yesterday evening, I was actually able to sleep during the day for once instead of waking up every couple of hours due to the immense heat. I came up to the computer lab in Jacobs Hall yesterday with the intent to scan my drawings and the pictures from the Warped Tour up – scanners were down and out for the count. What was so annoying is that the lab assistants they had in there didn’t know squat let alone want to help. It is so hard to find good help now a days *nods sagely* Every time I think about just buying a computer myself something comes up. Right now tuition went up and my financial aid amount went down. Normally I usually get enough per semester to get around $1000 dollars back here lately though with each new semester the amount from disbursement I get back actually keeps getting smaller, last semester was down to seven hundred and something. Well I went up to campus to pay for the upcoming fall semester and found out that my financial aid didn’t even cover this semester’s costs! I was nine dollars short, apparently both my Mom and myself made too much money last year WTF?! Ah but here’s the kicker. I have a work study job and payroll takes out federal and state taxes out of my paychecks for that job, but since it is work study they’re not supposed to. This is what jacked up my total income for the year so I had to do an amendment, now I’m waiting to see if I’ll get awarded a larger amount for this semester or if that extra will be applied to the Spring instead. Normally I use the money I get back from disbursement to buy my books and squirrel the rest away. A couple of months down the road and a few paychecks supplementing the stash and I have my car insurance paid in one lump sum. It’s looking like I wont have that extra money to play around with this year so right now everything in my savings account will have to stay there so that I’ll have cash for books and car insurance. Right now I’ve about five hundred saved in one account plus the money (dunno how much) I have in my Pay Pal account which is thankfully earning about 3% on the money market right now. There is absolutely no way I can afford to go solo on the computer but considering my parental unit just bought a new air conditioner unit I doubt she’ll be splurging on a new computer anytime soon. Oh well, that’s life right? Want to hear something disgusting? I ran over a skunk tonight. One of my neighbors was checking up on his land since he was watering (making sure the field hadn’t flooded/gates clogged ect…) and he had his big old monster (see: dually) truck parked on the side of the road. Since the road is narrow and doesn’t really have much room on the side he was half way into my lane and with his bright lights on too! For the longest time I could have sworn there was some drunk driving down the wrong side of the road, well to make matters worse there was a truck coming in the opposite direction and he/she didn’t want to scoot over that much for me to pass so I was so busy making sure I didn’t hit my neighbor’s truck and watching the other truck that I never saw the skunk in the middle of the street. I only knew I had hit a skunk after smelling the burnt fur and then the smell came in through the vents. The car still smells even though I took it through a car wash and stopped at Wal-Mart to buy some air freshener for the car (you know the really high concentrate stuff). Only time will get the smell out I’m afraid. If you have the windows down it doesn’t smell but roll them up or put the a/c on and eew gag-city. Damn inconsiderate, rude It's always an adventure with me folks! I can even turn going out in the middle of the night to buy a soda nad use the computer lab into an interesting experiance. Thank you: Miranda @ 1:52 am

10 Days until book 6 HP: and the Half-Blood Prince is released! Well happy belated 4th of July everyone. Yesterday was my first day off and sadly I slept through most of it considering I did just get off work that morning. Some nasty shit went down since I last had a chance to get online; needless to say I am still without a personal pc at home. Vanessa and Vero submitted their two week’s notices last week and our manager who is now back from her medical leave decided to wait until late afternoon on Sunday to post the upcoming week’s schedule. Why so late you ask; because despite Vero and Vanessa submitting their two weeks notice Sonia, our manager, left them completely off the schedule. The schedule is typically posted Friday morning, Friday night at the absolute latest so that everyone has a chance to stop in and check the schedule before the next week starts. Sonia deliberately waited until Sunday because that was the last posted day on the old schedule, Vanessa’s last night, and Sonia would not be opening that Monday morning so she would not have to listen to any complaints. Frankly it seems Sonia is just being a bitch all around. When an employee gives you two weeks notice you are supposed to keep them employed for those two weeks, granted you could give them crap-tappy hours and what not, but they are supposed to still be employed. When Vanessa saw the schedule she just wanted to walk out on the spot, luckily she didn’t as that was exactly what Sonia wanted her to do. Vanessa called Vero and told her about them being taken off the schedule and Vero decided to call Sonia at her house (at 12 o’clock at night) and demand an explanation. Sonia stated that she: “didn’t need them” and “got rid of them”. Being the snotty little brat that I am I told Vanessa: make sure you work for the camera and on Tuesday morning head on over to the Department of Labor. So all night long Vanessa did stuff in front of the cameras’ view such as carrying out the supplies for cleaning outside, stocking the donuts, and running the register but in actual on Sunday night she didn’t really work at all. Granted I ended up doing all the work myself but I can’t blame her, nor am I mad. In her situation I would have done the same. Sonia screwed up. She seems to think that because Veronica never graduated from high school, has four kids and is on welfare that she’s an idiot and doesn’t know anything. She also seems to think that because Vanessa is nineteen and doesn’t even have a GED that she doesn’t know anything either. But when people and the world conspire to screw you over you learn a few tricks. It also pays to have friends who know how the laws work and friends and family who have dealt with the department of labor both as employee’s trying to protect their employer’s best interests and as employees trying to get their dues. Both Veronica and Vanessa submitted two weeks notice and discussed with Sonia their need for continued employment for those two weeks and received, in turn, her agreement that they would still have their jobs for those two weeks. They then had to make a written documentation stating: “I so-and-so have submitted my two weeks notice on this day of blank” and then sign and date it. I believe Sonia was trying to CYA with this little added procedure but in the end it is going to screw her over. By taking them off the schedule as she did after having done and said all that she did she essentially fired them, which makes them both eligible for at least six months of unemployment aid. Sonia cannot even say that she had no positions for them to fill because there were no new staff hired after their two weeks were given and the store was managing to employ them both at the time. Basically she screwed herself over when she decided to get petty with them. Frankly though I’m not even sure where all this animosity between the three came from as it existed long before I came along. All I’m worried about now is keeping my job through all of this. Alright I vented, moving right along now. Can you believe it isn’t even 5 o’clock in the morning yet and already it is 81˚F in La Mesa, NM right now? This pat week the temperature has been getting up to 106˚F out here in La Mesa, and this is the sticks (boonies ect..) imagine what it is like in the cities of El Paso and Las Cruces? I’m glad I’m not living in the city right now. The sad thing though is that our air conditioner died and so a brand new one was bought. The wiring for the old one was shot to hell and back and new wiring is being installed so, now going on day seven of no air conditioner with 105˚F + heat. Joy oh frigging joy. Thank you: Hannah and Miranda @ 4:26 am
