Take This Job and Shove It!

That is exactly what I feel like telling my boss tomorrow. I want to call them up and say “I’m not coming in today, or tomorrow, or the day after that. You know why? Because I quit!”
I’m still so incensed with them. It would probably help if I explain why it is I’m pissed off, right?
Apparently our client, Wells Fargo, cut back on our hours because we weren’t hitting the hours. Frankly I think that’s management’s fault, big time. They know how many people they have working, how many trainees are coming in and they know that out of a class of, say ten trainees, not even half will last the entire week. That said, when it comes to promising hours to a client, do you calculate a reasonable amount of hours that takes into consideration the trainees who will never come back, the current workers, and the possibility of callouts or do you just pick a number that sounds good to the client, regardless of whether you can meet it or not? Yeah, guess which one they tend to do.
So as a result, the client cut back the hours we get. As I mentioned before, I got out early Monday and we were told to come in from 4 to 9pm for the rest of the week versus the normal 3 to 9:30pm. Now get this, because our sales were down, it was an off day all around for everyone, management is worried about productivity now. So if you hadn’t made a sale in two hours you got sent home early today. Since they pulling me off the sales floor for business breaks (meetings) they gave me an extra thirty minutes. I was in a call, didn’t get the sale and just as I was ready to take another call I was told to log off and head to the office. Guess who got sent home at 6:30pm? Yeah, me. What pisses me off is that just yesterday, as one of the top performers, I would not have to worry about being sent home early especially given the distance I have to drive. LIARS! They did it to me anyway. I was a top performer yesterday but clearly that doesn’t mean jack shit to these bastards.
So in short, I drove a round trip of 85 miles for two hours of work.
Then, as I’m leaving, they have the nerve to tell me “Thank you! Have a good night and we’ll see you tomorrow!”
I was so tempted to say “Not likely.” But I didn’t.
The shit is, we have to really bring up the production as well as hit the smaller allotment of hours as well so that, hopefully, next week Wells Fargo gives us more hours. So for the rest of the week they’re going to be doing this shit. Should I even bother going in to work at all this week? I mean gas prices have come down, sure, but it’s still not that cheap. Especially not for just two hours worth of pay and a whole lot of grief.

Ok, obviously the management has no idea of what they are doing. Pulling people off the phones and sending them home will not get them the required number of hours worked. If people say no, they say no. That is no one’s fault and frankly, I think it’s a bunch of crap that any job has a “sales goal” because it’s not your fault someone does not want something!
They are shooting themselves in the foot all around with what they’re doing and they’ll be lucky to keep the client at all by doing what they did tonight!
I take it you work with phone sales? I tried that once and hated every minute of it so I know how it goes.
It’s a very uncertain business so the way the management acts is incredibly stupid. It must be very hard to calculate how fast you should reach your goals since it’s not really up to you but the people you call. And it’s not like the sales will increase because they send people home! That will just make the moral of the employees sink.
You should try to find another job. One that you would enjoy going to.
I think they’re messed up and you should quit, cause that’s not fair treatment.
I think everyone is having problems with their job. I hope your job sorts out what it actually wants to do. Maybe you’ll be able to find a job closer to where you live.
Good luck with everything.
Ahh that sounds horrible. I hope your management gets over itself soon because that’s just unfair treatment. Although I hope even more you can find a better job so you wont have to put up with this for long.
I hate it when they send you home early when you don’t want to go. At our work they would ask us who wanted to go home first and there was always usually someone who didn’t want to be there, but that may be because it was a part time job and many of the people working there were teenagers. If they forced you to leave because no one wanted to go, they had to pay you for three hours even if you worked less than that. Of course they would pay you more if you worked for longer than 3 hours.
