Evil People and Evil Water Heaters

Our water heater is on the fritz again. I was trying to take a nice relaxing shower earlier, but alas, my nice hot shower turned freezing cold halfway through. I had to end it abruptly and towel off. Sadly there was still shampoo in my hair. I ended up finishing rinsing my hair off in the sink so that I wouldn’t have to climb back under the cold spray. When I reported that the water heater was acting up my grandfather stated that on Monday he’d see what was wrong with it and maybe look into getting a tankless water heater. He then mentioned that if I didn’t get to finish my shower properly, I could always go to my great-grandmother’s house and use the shower there.
It’s about a 3 to 5 minute drive so it’s not a big inconvenience distance-wise, however, the plumbing is messed up and the bathtub tends to back up. At least it used to anyway. When I commented on how troublesome it would be to use, since it could always back up on me, my grandfather said it was all fixed now. Just to clarify, that house is old, older than my grandfather, and the plumbing is just about as old. After it got hooked up to the city water system the bathroom’s plumbing went haywire. My grandfather wanted to hire a plumber to fix it, but the house belongs to my great aunt now and he felt she should help repair it too. Especially since the house fell into disrepair due to negligence on her part. She balked, so my grandfather just let it be.
However, since she and her husband are trying to sell my great-grandmother’s house so that they can have some money for renovations to their home they saw fit to finally get the plumbing fixed. You know, in order to get that house presentable for selling they’ll have to sink quite a bit of money into it. After all, they let it fall into disrepair for years. It seems to me that for the money she has to spend to fix it up so that buyers will be interested she should just worry about the renovations to their home. I really wish she wouldn’t try to sell it and just leave it to my grandfather. My great-grandmother never wanted the land and house sold. To sell it now for something paltry like renovations is an insult to her and our family.

Old houses is that really uncomfortable specially with bathroom and loos. It’s like they don’t want to change something in the house even though my grandparents loo already stinks with 200 years old bathroom.
