Backing Up Files – Joy

Ever since my laptop crashed a few months ago I’ve been very careful about keeping my files backed up, software up to date, and regular scans. I’ve got my most important files, like my 10GB of music, 300 fonts, some important software I can’t just “download”, and dozens of adobe brushes kept backed up on a flash drive. Multiple flashdrives actually. But now I’m thinking that might not be such a good idea.
My music collection is so large that I have to back it up on multiple flash drives as the price of a 10GB+ flash drive is beyond obscene. My fonts also take up a large chuck of storage space as well and that’s not even mentioning all of the other files I’d like to back up regularly on separate locations but I am currently unable to do so.
I’ve decided an external hard drive would be the route to go, but I’m not sure what brand is really reliable when it comes to these things. I thought about getting one on Black Friday but surprisingly enough there weren’t too many good deals on them.
Any suggestions for a reliable brand for an external hard drive and a reasonable price range for them?

Hey Joana!
I was bought this for Christmas:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Verbatim-47642-500GB-Hard-Drive/dp/B002JCSG8A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1261275210&sr=1-1
It’s a portable 500gb harddrive and it comes in pink! You can also get them in green, light blue, yellow and orange. I like it because it has all the space and its perfect for being used with a laptop as its small and compact. I had a desktop ext. harddrive before and I think part of the reason it broke (apart from old age!) was me dropping it on the floor when it slipped off my bed etc. so this is going to be better for me!
I think mine was about £90 which is roughly $145
Hope this helped you!
Ya we always do the backup for our security because of the some reason if our pc is damage then we will get our data. For the backup,we can use pen drive, other hard disk, cd disk or we can also use anti virus software in our pc for the security purpose.
I wish I had 10gbs of music to worry about, lol. Sadly though I have 63.1gbs of music, lol. So yes, I do lots of back ups because I would cry if I ever lost them, but I definitely understand where you’re coming from with the back ups.
That’s partly why I keep my music on my second hard drive.
