2009 is Rife with Bad Luck

That’s the conclusion that I have come to anyway. Friday night on my way home I got caught up in a fender bender – again. To avoid one guy who almost clipped me I pulled into another lane, which wasn’t moving, and couldn’t brake fast enough.
The car was drivable, but I noticed that it was leaking fluids. I touched a bit of it on the asphalt and held it up to the light before taking a sniff, it wasn’t oil. My guess, due to color, was power steering fluid. The fire department and the police kept telling me my car wasn’t drivable, then one guy made the mistake of saying that I, a woman, wouldn’t understand. He almost got sucker punched. Eventually they decided to “humor” me and instructed me to drive Pyro into a nearby parking lot so that it was out of the street, Pyro drove just fine. Bastards couldn’t get their damn jaws off the ground.
It took forever for a cop to arrive to take our statements, and it took even longer for my mother to get there. You see, driving Pyro into the parking lot made me realize just how difficult it is to guide a vehicle let alone turn it without the power steering functioning properly. For this reason I wanted her to drive behind me with her hazard lights on, this way she could block me from any traffic that might try to rush me on turns and curves up on the freeway, interstate, and the highway I had to drive on to get home.
Of course I forgot she had a big mouth and she had to comment on the small puddle she saw on the parking lot ground, upon which they “discovered” it was either oil, brake fluid, or power steering fluid, and thus concluded that the car wasn’t drivable. The cop that arrived hadn’t been there previously, he never saw the big puddle that leaked out. All he knew was that I drove it in and that one of the lights clearly isn’t working. After that we had no choice but to go through the motions of getting it hooked up so that she could tow it with her truck. Of course, Pyro is a bitch to tow though. He cannot be towed from the front and has to be towed from the back, as the only place study enough to handle it is in the back, but way under the car. The end result of trying to tow Pyro, who could not be controlled properly was this:

On one of the turns, the chain pulled Pyro up too tight and since I couldn’t properly steer Pyro, the bumpers of my mom’s truck and Pro met and Pyro lost. Since we were out of sight of the cop now though, we unhooked the chain and I drove Pyro home safely.
I hadn’t had a chance to get full coverage put back on Pyro and still have just liability so I’m looking at taking out a loan, about $2,000, to get Pyro fixed up ASAP. Here’s hoping that the majority of it turns out to be body work and that I don’t have really expensive repairs coming my way, like say a new axle or bearings. But maybe that’s not the best idea after all…
More Bad News
Joana might just be out of a job now.
If you’ve been following the news then you are well aware that several banks have received bail out money and that those banks are now being scrutinized on how they’ve been spending said money. At work, the main program we call on is the Wells Fargo Preferred Customer Program (PCS) and Wells Fargo happens to be one of the banks under scrutiny. As a result, the marketing division of Wells Fargo is going over which programs to keep and which to chunk and sadly PCS got the boot. This means that we now have no program to call out which means Joana has no job at present.
They informed those that worked on Saturday about this, but I had Saturday off. It’s a damn good thing Deborah worked Saturday and is a good friend. She called me Sunday to let me know, and as of right now (2:52pm) I still haven’t been called by DialAmerica about this. Which means, had Deborah not called me, I would be on my way to work right and would have been royally pissed to be told all this and sent home.
I did call into the office today to get more details. Right now I’m “off” Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week. On Wednesday though they’ll call us and let us know what is going on. I can go and pick up my check though on Tuesday afternoon before 5pm or Wednesday morning before 1pm.
So this begs the question, do I still have a job? Sure, DialAmerica is just fine, but without a program to call on there is no work. Looks like maybe I should start looking for another job just in case. This timed with the new car accident is just bad and horrid luck plain and simple.
I’m hating 2009 and wishing it were 2010 already.

Ugh! I’m so sorry about the luck you’ve been having this year.
Call center work can be such a pain. If they lose the project you’re on, and they don’t have another project lined up, you can end up out of work completely, or laid off awaiting call back when they do get another project.
My advice would be to find out what they say on Wednesday or Thursday and go from there. If they say they’ve got another project in the works, stay with it, otherwise, I’d look for another job.
sorry about what has happen
don’t worry about the job all will be alright
you are having a bit of a bad patch in life, the good patch will soon arrive till then don’t “panic”
Wow, that’s two pretty huge things to be going wrong at once! I’m sorry about Pyro, your poor car
As far as the work thing, maybe they will find another bank with a program to call about, but yea, for now that sound like no work means no working days, whether you’re laid off or not. So looks like it’s job search time. Though, while your car is out of commission, I suppose not having to drive somewhere isn’t that bad? A little bit of a bright side?
Poor Pyro!
Lousy emoticon! Why didn’t it show up in my previous comment?
It was probably due to human error…(I’m referring to me of course!)
