This Really Sucks You Know

Rants and Raves - - Posted on June, 12 at 12:19 am

I have to cut back on a lot of expenses, frivolous and necessary, right now. :( Why? Because it is ridiculously hard to find a job that will actually not bore me to death or insult my intelligence and is actually worth more than bare minimum wage. :grr:

Thankfully I’m not a real-life version of and need to avoid all vegas hotels for fear of racking up gambling debts or something. That does of course put a serious crimp on my road tripping plans as well as my con plans too.

I’m still going to the EPAC though. Nothing is stopping me from attending, not this year.

Honestly though, the fight for a job has to make you wonder if college is really such a wise investment after all. :frown:

It depends on your major I suppose, how quickly you can find a job. But don’t give up, I’m sure you’ll find something, somewhere.

My husband is looking for a job too and hitting the same barriers. He is very intelligent, but he doesn’t have a degree… and he has some social anxiety so he doesn’t like looking! Hopefully he and you will both find something soon.

I think that’s a big part of why I’ve never gone back to school. It’s so hard to find a job in your chosen field. :( The worst is when you apply for jobs and end up getting told you’re over qualified. *sigh*

Ick, I’m sorry. I get it though. My boyfriend’s having a hell of a time finding a job that pays more than minimum wage and that won’t suck balls or that won’t involved being bossed around my egotistical little teenagers. I feel sorry for him. All that computer knowledge and he’s having such a time. Makes me question dumping so much hard earned cash into college. Of course, I’ll keep doing just that so I can get my edjumacashon. =D Good luck to you!

Well, you can only hold out for so long, right? Eventually, bills need to be paid. =\ I just hope by then, you’ve found a job that’s suitable for you! Perhaps you could try networking a bit?

Vegas is one of those places where I really need to stay away as well. For me it’s bad enough going up to the race track where they have just a small casino (with only slot machines). I have no clue how bonkers I’d go in a place that has blackjack since I’m about obsessed with it. lol.

Hope you have good luck in finding something as a job. I kinda luck out since I’m at school and I got a really good job when I was a freshman and have managed to hang on to it all that time. Plus I have the freelancing thing which for the most part so far has been people contacting me because my boss, or one of my professors have mentioned it.

It seems that nowadays, you need a degree for everything. Unless you’ve specialized in a high demand career, like health care, finding a job that pays isn’t easy.
