The Bad About My Job

I really like the idea of having a job that will pay me weekly and that I’ll be able to take home at least $200 a week as well. That’s awesome!

The commute however isn’t so great. First of all, lots of gas. That doesn’t really bug me that much though because I take the interstate and then connect to the freeway in El Paso. Straight shot, no stop and go traffic, like you get in-town, so the gas doesn’t go nearly as fast. The bad though comes in when you get stuck in a traffic jam for over forty minutes and walk in to work half an hour late. :grr:

There was an accident on the freeway, at least five exits before where I was at, and the traffic came to a sudden standstill. The freeway became a parking lot, no lie. The BMW convertible two lanes over could have busted out with their car cover and just reclined in the car, they wouldn’t have missed anything.

What made it worse was the fact that despite the backed up traffic, they didn’t close the on-ramps to the freeway. So even though the traffic wasn’t moving, you still had morons coming onto the freeway and forcing their way in. Needless to say, this resulted in an even more clogged up situation. Total suckage.

I called in about twenty minutes before I was supposed to be at work to warn them that I might be a little late, and it was a good thing too, because I didn’t walk in that door until half past three. Thirty minutes after I was supposed to be there. Another woman, who got caught even further back then I did, strolled in at about 4:15.

So yeah, that’s the bad thing about my job. When I get caught in traffic like that there really is nothing I can do because, for me, coming on the interstate is the fastest way for me. :(

Other than that, I am enjoying the job thus far. :D

Ugh… I know all about situations like that. When I worked at the mall a few years ago, I got called in one day. I hopped on the highway, expecting a 10-15 minute drive as usual, but there was a bad accident on the exit I needed. It backed up the highway for miles, and it took me 3 hours to get to the mall… 3 hours! It’s just a good thing I had a full tank of gas!

Yuck. It’s like that here too, usually the traffic is predictable so if you give yourself enough time you’ll get to work on time. But sometimes it just gets awful for no reason and you’re just trapped. Not a good feeling, but it’s a good thing your work doesn’t get mad at you for being late due to traffic, cause that’s extra stress you don’t need.

OMG that sucks. I’m glad everything worked out though. Yea strait shots do save on gas. I hate stop and go traffic…. nearly as much as I hate driving in three four lane highways.
