Remember Wednesday the First Installment

Jade has created a new weekly meme on her blog and she’s inviting everyone to not only follow along, but play along as well. The theme of this meme is to pick a song that is special to you and evokes a memory, good or bad, and to share the song and memory with your readers. You can opt to post a video of the song, lyrics, a snippet, or a full mp3 download if you like.
And naturally, you should link back to her latest weekly Remember Wednesday post so that folks can follow along and find other RW posts too!
For this Wednesday I chose Marilyn Manson’s “The Better of Two Evils” as my choice and since I’m here at home and didn’t feel like sitting around for nearly an hour waiting for a single song to upload, I’ve opted to find a video featuring the song on YouTube for you all to listen to:
Now, as some might have realized, this song actually holds a great deal of meaning for me. Out of all of the songs I love from Marilyn Manson it’s the only that I built a fanlisting for, Paparazzinazis. I’d heard this song numerous times since it came out, but a couple of years after I graduated high school it took on a new meaning for me. An old friend, hence forth called S, who I had been very close and who had subsequently stabbed me in the back came back into my life. S was someone I had always felt I could confide in before they let me down so their sudden regret and wish to be friends again both hurt me anew and made me happy at the same time. I frankly didn’t know what to do. Bury the hatchet and let them (and all their problems) back into my life or give ‘em the bird and tell them to stick it where the sun don’t shine.
As it turned out, my hesitation saved me from making a big mistake. As the saying goes: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. While I was dancing from foot to foot deciding what to do I learned that S was actually back in town because he’d had a little trouble with the law and was trying to lay low. Since authorities in Texas knew him by an alias he thought he could safely hang here in NM for a bit and let the guera pendeja cover for him. I wasn’t an old friend S felt bad for walking all over those years back, and I definately wasn’t the only one he treated like this either. In the end, all I meant was a way to lay low and the only person who actually had wheels and money who would help him.
Now, I won’t post all of the lyrics here since they’re already posted on my fanlisting and I have the video here too, but here is the part that really sums up our parting of ways the first time and the second time as well.
Haters call me bitch
Call me faggot call me whitey
But I am something that you’ll never be
(Hey)I won’t look prettier if I smile for the picture
Motherfuckers never liked me then and they
Sure won’t like me now
Don’t try to drag me down with your cliché
Your fake grin fits your faker face
But I find all my pleasure in your misery
Yeah
I didn’t fit in with the crowd he wanted to run with, they all hated my guts, so naturally he did whatever was necessary to distance me from him. In the end, I had the last laugh since somehow authorities found him here in NM anyway.
Imagine that.
So whenever I’m depressed I like to listen to this song. It always puts a smile on my face and gives me the emotional lift I need. Not to mention, it’s just an awesome song to bob along too.

Thanks for joining in!
Great choice too! I’ve got a few of these in draft just in case and I’ve got an “I almost let you back in…” memory as well.
