Prowlers Not Welcome

My mother’s dog, Big Momma (yes I cringe at the name too) does not like people or critters prowling around on her property. She especially hates EBID workers, cyclists (I think it’s the shorts), kids riding ATVs, squirrels, and skunks.
Now, I’m not sure why four legged critters like to walk up to her and challenge her, especially when she’s confined to being chained up. You would think they’d have the common sense to leave her alone, but no, they like to push the envelope with her. Big Momma has a very compact build that is pure muscle. She packs a fierce bite and the tenacity to take down any foe no matter their size. She also has the uncanny ability to incapacitate her foe in a single move. She is cute and sweet, no doubt about that. But if you cross this doggy beware, there is no mercy. It is for this reason that I find myself writing this disclaimer today.
Attention! If you are tresspassing on our property, please be advised. Do not worry about the big doggy with the deep fierce bark and the gleaming fangs. You should be keeping your eyes on the much smaller female dog. She’s a fast and vicious little bugger.
You are especially warned to stay away if you are a gopher, raccoon, squirrel, noisy bird, or a skunk.

I was sitting at the computer, contemplating whether or not I wanted to make a salad or swipe a tv dinner from the freezer when my nose was assaulted by a foul odor. Living in the boonies, the smell was easily identifiable as a skunk. There was just one problem, it’s the middle of the day and the sun is shining down brightly. There should be no skunks out in plain sight let alone in distress and spraying their foul stuff all about.

Apparently there was a skunk burrow where Big Momma likes to sleep. I’m not sure how she did it, but one of them came out, and well, that was the end of that. She chose a rather cruel way to finish him too. Looks like he suffered a bit there.
So instead of eating lunch I fought my gag reflex to remove the carcass of a skunk from our property who did not have the common sense to steer clear of dogs in general and Big Momma in particular.
Sadly, this isn’t the first time and it probably won’t be the last either.

And now I am heading off for a nice shower and lighting every incense burner I have in the house. Strangely enough, I’m not really hungry anymore.

Well, I would say poor skunk.. BUT dogs are dogs. That’s just what they do. I bet it did smell something horrible though, I can’t imagine it myself.
I gave you an award on my blog. If you get a chance go check it out.

That’s one tough big momma! But the skunk had it coming, invading like that.
Ugh, I believe dogs should be allowed to run around indoors instead of being chained outside. But wow, so many flies on that skunk. How long has it been dead for?
