One Step at a Time

It might be tiring going to work practically every day and having to deal with the drama of my co-workers, but I enjoy having a steady income once again. Being self-employed is great, but if the revenue isn’t steady it’s scary. Not to mention, complete lack of benefits. I paid off Pyro (my car, a 2000 Dodge Neon) a two months ago and that was a big weight off my shoulders. One less bill to pay monthly, and now, the money not going to the car can go to get my credit cards paid off. I plan on keeping my Mastercard and Discover cards for emergencies, but I am so paying off the ones from Capital One.
I like having money when I need it, but the balances are getting crazy. Especially since my income wasn’t steady but I still needed to eat, buy gas, pay other expenses anyway. Discover is giving me trouble right now because they raised my minimum payment, so even though I was making the monthly payment, I wasn’t always meeting the minimum. I hope to get that completely fixed and under control with my next paycheck next week.
Still though, having a steady flow of income and other avenues pouring in as well has really taken off the stress I’ve been feeling lately. I’m not financially free yet, far from it, but I’m getting there. One of my biggest fears there at the end when I was paying off Pyro was to be visited by the Repo-man. For the past couple of months I’ve been meticulously keeping track of my income and my bills, plotting and strategizing ways to make every dollar count and I’ve found that taking the time to really sit down and lay it all out in front of me really helps. I see exactly what I have and can find the best way to take care of my responsibilities.
I’ve visited a lot of helpful websites during this time too. Hey, I want to fix my credit and will happily take any (free) advice that I can. In fact, there is a site that has been designed with women in mind and even offers a free ebook to help you out on your quest to financial freedom. You can get your FREE debt makeover guide here. I downloaded it earlier this evening and plan to read over it Saturday after I get off work. I hope it has some good tips and strategies in it.
