Ooh, guess what I saw on sale this week at Buy.com? Actually, there were quite a few things that caught my attention, such as the Rolling Stones searchable digital archive which covers the first forty years of the Rolling stones. Then there was the Samsonite laptop case that I oogled a bit before moving on. To be honest, what really caught my attention was some software that has been marked down to such a low price that they’re basically giving it away!

Right now, at least until the start of next week and the new sales anyway, Buy.com has Webroot Spy Sweeper (3 User) available for only $19.99, or $9.99 after rebates. Other merchants have it available as low as $42.59, which is to be expected, I suppose, since it’s list price is $39.95. That is one heck of a saving, if you ask me.

I’ve been considering buying Webroot to install on my laptop for some time now. Currently I just have McAfee and AdAware installed on my laptop. Is that good enough, or do I need more protection? You see, I have used it in the past and it seems fairly reliable, but the only computers I’ve used it on were public access ones on campus. In other words, I couldn’t really see just how effective it was since other people used the computers. Who knows what they did while on them and if their actions actually negated the benefits of the spy sweeper. It would be nice to give it a shot, and at that price, I could afford it.
