I’ve been dying to go to A-Kon for years now, but whenever it arrives I never can get a chance to travel to Dallas, TX. Never mind being able to attend Yaoi Con in California. This year however, it appears there is a new convention making its debut and it’s a lot more accessible too.

The Yaoi Jamboree is a new convention making it’s debut this year in Phoenix, Arizona and will be held from June 20th to the 22nd at the Renaissance Phoenix Hotel in Glendale, Arizona. Passes are only $30 right now, and are good for all three days of the con. They will be $40 the day of the event.

The con has negotiated a going rate of $129/night for a single or double room at the hotel that the con is being held at. It’s a pretty good price too because that hotel ain’t cheap. They might as well be condo hotels! Being the thrifty (read: cheap) person that I am however, I’ve found that there are nearby hotels and sleep inns that are a hell of a lot cheaper. Yes, Joana has already begun pricing rooms around there. Because of the nature of the con, you must be 18 or older to attend and you will have to have a government issued picture id or passport/visa to gain access to the event.

Now here’s the potential coolness factor. You can, conceivably, have some back to back con action since A-Kon is May 30th through June 1st and the El Paso Anime Con is being held June 13 – 15th. See, you hit Dallas, TX first, then move on to El Paso, TX and then pass over NM for Arizona and hit another con. Sweet, yes?
