My Bank is Definately Lacking

That is the conclusion that I have come to at least. I received a new check card in the mail recently to replace my current one. Here’s the problem, my current one is not set to expire until 2011 so it’s not because it’s expired. Also, the card number differs from the current one (which should actually be the same). It has my name on it, but it lacks my picture. Suspicious, yes?

There’s nothing on here to prove that this is a real card and not some form of identity theft, for all I know, I could call the number, give the required information to activate the card, and be totally screwed over.

Needless to say, I called my bank first to see just what the hell was going on. I had to deal with a snippy woman, who enjoys interrupting people as they speak, just to be told that the card was for the shared account and that I “should have known that”.

Excuse me, how would I know that? Nothing distinguished as being a card for the account that my mother has that she put my name on. In fact, they’ve never sent me a check card before because the primary account holder (my mom) has to request it, and since I had told her, at the time, that I didn’t need one, she never requested it for me. I just have the checks. Since my mother was also a bit suspicious when I mentioned the surprising appearance of a new card in the mail I sincerely doubt she requested one for me. :frown:

Thankfully though no one has been charged a fee for the card, as I am entitled to this card since it’s replacing the “expired” card. I mentioned that I never had one to begin with, but since the computer registered that my mother’s expired, it sent both her and me new cards for the account.

I’d have to say that the left hand doesn’t know what the right one is doing.

Banks are like that. Especially the super corporate megabanks like WaMu, Wachovia and BoA.

You know, I hate it when places can’t get their act together. One would think that a place with as sensitive information and content as a bank would have a system that is at least, in part, somewhat flawless. But the fact that they just send cards out and then act rude when someone inquires as to why they suddenly have something like that (especially with identity theft being so rampant) is terrible.

Banks are a little bit scary. Co-incidentally, i just applied for a new savings account this morning. haha! Hope the card you got won’t bring anything bad for you.

Oh yea isn’t that just awesome. No one knows what’s going on and they have to be bitchy to their customers on top of that. Awesome. At least it turned out to be legit, so that’s good.
