Mother’s Day Plans Derailed by Mom?!

Yup, I had Mother’s day all planned out. Late lunch at Ruby Tuesdays, do some shopping, then catch a movie. Something real simple that would let us spend some time together. Especially since most sights and attractions seemed to close for today. 
But did she want to do any of this? Nope. She just wanted to have a barbecue at home, and she insists on being the one to cook.
Now, how does that translate to a day off for Mother’s Day? She’s goofy.
She claims she just doesn’t want to deal with the crowds out there and the poor service that will enevitably follow as a result of tired and over worked employees on this day. I guess that’s a good reason, I dunno. It’s her day so I guess she wins.

LOL, moms are so funny! They never do what’s expected. Although I can see her point - we went to Applebee’s and it was an absolute madhouse!
It makes sense for her to just want to stay home and be relaxed, even if cooking is considered relaxing. Being out in public on a holiday is so stressful.
Sad - I think Ruby Tuesdays and Shopping sounds like more fun than a barbecue anyways, but I suppose it is mother’s day so she gets what she wants?
Did your mom have a good time on Mother’s Day? That the most important thing. But I definitely think that your plan sounded like fun…perhaps another date? How about a time when you aren’t getting along too well? Or just set up a monthly Mother-Daughter day.
I think its great that you wanted to do something with your mom. It’s even better that you did what she wanted to do. Speaking as a mom I’d say you are super!

Ooh, Applebees’s (here at leas) can be pretty crazy unless you time it right. Certain days during certain times is cool, anything else is just crazy.
Yeah, one of these days I’ll learn not to make plans for her and just plan around her.

Exactly my thoughts! But yeah, it was Mom’s Day so ultimately she had the deciding vote and the power of veto all wrapped up into one. At least she had fun though.
I think you’re great to remember your mom on mother’s day and do what she wants to do even if it isn’t what you want.
