Long Cold Night

Ah, tonight was just exhausting. I did good sales-wise at work, but I had to go through a lot of irate and obnoxious people to get them. I won a $5 time card bonus though and brought my sales total to 30 for the week thus far, so it was worth it.

It was the drive home that was the real pain though. It started hailing and snow flurries were falling down too. Now this is Southern New Mexico mind you, folks don’t know how to drive in this weather. So as the white stuff started falling people on the freeways, going over 70 mph decide to slam on their brakes. Brilliant.

So it took a heck of a lot longer to get home than it normally does. On top of that, I had to get out in the cold to check the mailbox. When I got home I was greeted with a panicky mother who had lost Isis. Yup, mom returned home around 3pm and Isis was nowhere to be found and hadn’t appeared by the time I got home. I feared she was outside, so I was standing outside in the cold calling for her to no avail. We checked all the beds, under blankets, drawers, and closets. She was completely MIA.

Eventually I got smart, I stood in the hallway, about the middle of the house, and popped open a can of cat food. Not two seconds later the little rat comes slinking out of the wicker cat bed (it’s shaped sort of like a ball) and comes up to me meowing happily. That bed was not even two feet away from me and is right outside the kitchen. In other words, there is no way she did not hear us calling for her. Not funny at all.

Sadly, since we had Christmas day off, I have to go in to work tomorrow. Joy. Oh well, at least Saturdays are generally good days for sales for me. After this freezing and tiresome night though I really wish I had a sleep number bed, you know the ones you see on tv, I imagine it would feel great to sleep in right about now.

At least be thankful you’re not in the Seattle area right now or any of the northern states. A lot of weather surprises this winter. We’ve been having snow blizzards for the last two weeks.

This made me laugh: “So as the white stuff started falling people on the freeways, going over 70 mph decide to slam on their brakes. Brilliant.” HAHA! You do that here, right now, you’re in a ditch and there’d be car pileups everywhere!

omg, lol, I had a cat that used to do that to me, but she used to hide in the closet and only come to the can opener. lol, its funny as hell. I’m glad that she wasn’t outside, especially in the bad weather.

You have to love the attitude of a confident cat. Fortunately, you have the best tool to get her to come running, food!
