Isis and Denali: Back from the Vet

Today was the day the kitties have learned to dread the most. I believe what tipped them off that today was not at all normal was the fact that, not only did I wake up early this morning, but I went around and shut every single door in the house so that the cats were confined to the main rooms: living room, kitchen, dinning room, and hallway. There was no hiding in closets, ducking into crawl spaces, or darting under beds. The girls were good sports about it, at first but when they got fed early and not given another serving at their usual time (because Isis has a nasty habit of regurgitating when under stress) their suspicions were confirmed. To the vet’s they were going!
Thankfully they’re very well behaved in the car, and when they’re in Dr. Calista’s office they’re little angels. No hissing, no growling. Just unzip the collapsible carrier and in they go with no fuss. It’s only when we’re away that they return to normal. *sigh* Still, it is nice while it lasts. I even had to snap some pictures of them on the examining table. I swear Denali and Isis gave me the most affronted looks when they realized that I was snapping pictures of them during their “torture”. Once they realized it was picture time it became impossible to get them to look at me long enough for some decent shots sadly.
Their visit was nothing major this time around, just their annual checkup and they were also due for their rabies shots as well. Isis shocked me by weighing in at 8.5 lbs! She’s always been so light and it’s been such a chore to keep her at 7lbs, but she finally managed to put on some weight, and according to Dr. Calista, is finally at her ideal weight. Because Isis is such a trim figured cat, whenever she gets sick or is upset she stops eating and the pounds just melt away. But after her gum surgery and the tooth extraction she can eat healthy again.
Denali, the little porker, weighed in at 10.5lbs. I wasn’t surprised at all when I put her on the scale and read her weight. Well actually okay, I was a tad surprised. I thought she would weigh somewhere around thirteen.
Denali too is at an ideal weight for her build and size, in fact she can gain another couple of pounds and be just fine, as can Isis. And since the girls got rabies shots they also got new tags. They’re red hearts this time around instead of the blue flower-like shape! Isis happily modeled hers for the camera while Denali had finally had enough with the flashing camera light and trotted out before I could snap one of her. Punk.

Aww poor tortured kitties. But fun too. Yay for a healthy diagnosis.
Hmmm, this reminds me, when my taxes appear, I must take Spooky in for his shots. I don’t do nearly enough posts about my beautiful furbabies, but then again, I don’t have a decent camera to take pics with either. LOL
Glad to hear that everything went well at the vet’s office.
I wish they’d give nice tags here instead of the “color of the year” blobs they give out. LOL
Thanks for dropping by my blog. :-)
Hey, your kitties sure look nice. Wow, I saw the collar on your kitty. (2nd pic) I love the bling and the glamor look of your kitty collar.
Charity,
You must get a camera soon. I want to see regular pictures of Spooky, whom I hear so much about!
I was surprised that hey were these cute red hearts actually. Once, a long long time ago Isis had a heart tag for her rabies tag. That was like, 6 years ago, maybe more. It was plain silver though. Usually the tags are plain silver or a nice blue and generally come in either a bell, circle, or flower-like shape. That’s it. The red heart was a very pleasant and welcome surprise.
Helen,
Thank you! I’m quite sure Isis will be pleased to hear you like her collar as she’s a vain little kitty. She’s the only cat I know who takes meticulous care of her collars, which is the only reason I’ll shell out on collars with jewels or glitter on them.
Personally I LOVE how the red tag looks in combination with her collar and her light coloring. Beautiful.
