Maria,

Yup, Denali and Isis are a study of contrasts. Denali is hyper, in your face, vocal, and a hunter. I've often described her as little tiger for that reason.

Isis on the other hand, is playful in a kittenish way, likes to nap and is always ready to curl up with you when you go to sleep (hence me call her sand-kitty and sleepy-time kitty) and just loves to receive worshipful attention.

One's old, one's young. One's light, one's dark.

Goodness! Denali is one vicious kitty! Stockton Boy's kitty is vicious too. I once bought a spider toy and she took it apart within a week or two. No eyes, no legs.

I love how Isis just sits there and watches. It's as if you have to two stereotypical types of cat; the Garfield lazy kind, and the vicious I'm-gonna-eat-you kind.

Mari,

That would be the understatement of the year! One time, there was a hole in the screen door, and four little kittens, barely 5 or 6 weeks old snuck into the house. For a while we couldn't figure out why she was staying in the kitchen watching the door. Then one night my mother opened the solid wood door and the kittens were between the two doors. They made it out the hole before my mom could react, sans one, the runt. It ran into the house and Denali pounced it in a heartbeat and had already drawn a nice slash down its tummy. The poor kitten was traumatized, although thankfully not seriously injured.

Denali is a hunter, there is no doubt about that. And anything that moves and is smaller than her is her prey.

You should see the bathroom and kitchen floors in the morning. They're clean when we go to bed, but every morning without fail there is some poor creature on the floor ripped to shreds. Sometimes a cricket with two legs torn off to prevent escape and guarantee slow death, sometimes a centipede with all of it's legs off.

Jessica,

Oh yes, Denali had quite a bit of fun! In fact she wore herself out and spent the evening sprawled out on her stadium blanket. Totally zonked out.

Indeed, she got a can of cat food, many pats and scratches, and some treats for a job well done.

Charity,

Indeed, you need more pet-love on your blog! I always enjoy reading posts about pets and can never get enough of them :)

Yes, I was quite pleased with her for getting rid of the pest. It's the only reason she didn't get yelled at for trashing the kitchen. She broke a plate and one teflon pan that fell down has some serious scratches and dings in it from where the pestle landed in it. Not to mention the over all mess, but in the end, one mouse dead is worth it.

She slashed his EYES out? Whoa, you have a vicious girl there...

Well, if your cats are in the house, you won't have mice problems for long, at least.

My boys just endlessly torment the mice until they stop running, then they eat them alive (or let them go, half messed-up). Lazy boys. I wish they were quick and efficient like my girls used to be... *has no girl-kitties anymore*

I just had to smile  when I read this entry. It reminded me that my dog, Colby, chases and catches mice as well. I hope that Denali had tons of fun catching the mouse, and that he received a really good petting.
