I’m Getting Naked!

Yes, you read that correctly. I’m getting naked, right here on my blog too.

Naked NaturalsI bet I have your undivided attention now.

Have no fear though, this post is going to be completely “G” rated. :) Now, pick yourselves up out of the gutter and I’ll explain. You see, when I said I was getting naked I wasn’t exactly lying. Naked Naturals is a line of hair care products that give you the beautiful hair you want without all of the harsh chemicals found in most shampoos and conditioners.

You won’t be finding any of these in Naked Naturals:

  • Lauryl or Laureth Sulfates
  • DEA or TEA
  • Animal by-products
  • Artificial colors
  • Synthetic fragrance
  • Harsh chemicals

Not only does Naked Naturals not contain any of the above, it also adds a special ingredient to the mix – Keravis. Keravis is a natural protein from plants that penetrates and moisturizes the hair follicle which in turn makes the hair thicker and stronger. Most shampoos use D-Pathenol (animal by-product) to do this same thing. However, tests have proven that Keravis is seven times more effective than D-Panthenol.

Of course, most of this might seem like Greek to some out there who have never really noticed was and isn’t in their shampoo bottle. So let me just throw out one other tidbit that I find to be very important when it comes to choosing beauty and hygiene products. There is no animal testing!

samples of Naked Naturals Awapuhi & Lavender shampoo and conditioner

Now I got a sample packet of Naked Naturals’ Awapuhi Lavender natural shampoo and conditioner for color-treated hair in the mail recently. Even though it has been quite some time since I last dyed my hair, and the dye is completely out of my hair now, the damaged done to my hair from all the dying I used to do has remained. Whenever I died my hair I tended to use shampoo that was gentle or geared toward color-treated hair so that the dye would not be damaged and stripped from my hair any sooner than necessary.

Of course, one problem I noticed with products geared toward color-treated hair is the fact that, when it comes to cleaning, they just don’t seem to get the job done. Oh, I’m sure they work just fine if you were sitting on your butt all day and not going about your daily business. But after a long day, after sweat, dirt, and hair products had been in my hair, I found that most color-treated shampoos just don’t get my hair clean. The proof was in the flakes left behind. :frown:

With sample packets in hand, I went to take a shower. Now granted, my hair wasn’t as dirty as it could have been, but it was reasonably dirty. Now on the Naked Naturals website (nakednaturals.com) they state that after just one use you’ll agree that NN is the best shampoo you have ever used. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that, but it was pretty damn good. I didn’t really expect to see any noticeable change after just one wash, so I had hoped to get two uses out of the samples. That was a no go, barely enough in the packet for one use. However, after shampooing I did notice my hair felt smoother and not as coarse as it normally would. In fact it felt almost as though I had already put conditioner in and rinsed it out.

I got an even better result after I applied the conditioner. There was a vast improvement in the texture of my hair, which was pretty amazing considering I didn’t expect any results that soon. Now, despite being on the thick side, my hair isn’t very strong. When I comb, brush, or wash my hair I’m always left wondering if there is going to be any left when I’m finished! I wasn’t able to see if the shampoo and conditioner appreciably strengthened my hair in one application. Although, as my hair dries it’s not frizzing out as it normally does. Now that is definately something to sing about!

NN can be purchased at Walgreens, and they also offer two other formulas (Aloe Vera & Chamomile and Citrus & Keratin) so I will most definately be putting the $1 off coupon that was attached to the samples to use. :D The Awapuhi & Lavender shampoo and conditioner smelt heavenly to me, and I’m very finicky when it comes to anything lavender scented. Not to mention, there was a noticeable improvement in the texture of my hair which, is something that is not happening with my regular brands.

Sexy pictures! Me luvs your curls! It’s good that there are some products out there that make our hair feel good, cause most of the time products just dry out our natural shiny curlness.
