I Like This Netflix Feature

I’ve had my Netflix account on hold for quite some time now. I just couldn’t see spending money on something like a dvd rental subscription when I didn’t have any time to watch said dvds. Later on it became more a matter of not wanting to spend money on that sort of an expense. Well, when my grandfather went into the hospital for surgery I kind lost focus on everything else. Then of course I was the one running around doing his errands and taking care of him during his recovery, so needless to say, the 5th of May came and went without me noticing.
What’s so important about the 5th of May, you ask? Cinco de Mayo aside, it’s also the day that my Netflix subscription was set to renew unless I went in and extended the hold. Needless to say, I forgot all about it. Since the minute the subscription becomes active they charge your card I didn’t see a point in canceling it. If I’ve already been charged for it, then I might as well use it. That’s how I figure it. Anyway, I remember reading a post somewhere on Kat’s blog that she has Netflix and uses the instant watch feature. Since my subscription is for the 3 at a time I too have that feature. Obviously here at home I can’t use it since I have dial-up, but last night I went to the 24hr laundromat to wash some blankets1 and I took my laptop with me.
Now see, there’s a computer lab in the same building, although it’s not open twenty-four hours, so I figured there had to be wi-fi in there. Whether or not it extended to the laundromat portion of the building was debatable. Thankfully though it did, and a really fast connection to boot. So after I finished my downloads I signed into Netflix and checked out the movies in my queue that had the instant play feature. Not too many did sadly.
So I browsed around for some that I wanted to see. I watched about five episodes of Xena from multiple seasons and even watched Lady Death. I love that feature! It almost makes me not want to put my account back on hold at the end of the month.
Watching movies instantly on my laptop coupled with the discs here at home is just awesome. Especially since the closest Netflix warehouse is a little ways away. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go finish watching the rentals I have here at home. I’ve got Stephen King’s The Mist to finish watch. Damn but I love that movie. I hate the preachy-bitch though. I would have so done more than just slapped her.

Cool, watching movies on your computer instantly is pretty neat. Especially since you were able to go somewhere with a fast connection. I still prefer to watch on a bigger screen though.
I have to start getting with the stuff of this century! I’m still learning how to use my DVD player
We had the blockbuster online and once we saw that netflix did the instant watch feature we immediately switched. It’s great huh. We don’t have television so it’s fun to watch a movie here and there. The documentarys are great too.
I haven’t been able to use the online service (as I’d have to use a proxy and my computer doesn’t like the software when I do) which sucks but the regular service is still nice if slow here.
