Hello Kitty Wallet Re-Draw

N-I.net Network - 8 Comments » - Posted on March, 27 at 6:39 pm

Alright folks, I really didn’t want to have to do this, but I have no choice. As originally planned, the Hello Kitty Wallet giveaway was officially closed on the 23rd of March and the winner was randomly selected and announced on March 24th.

However, a problem arose that I had never come across before – the winner did not contact me. An entire day went by with no response so I made a second announcement post asking that the winner contact me by 6:27pm MST on Thursday (full three days since announcement) or I would have to assume they were no longer interested. After making the post I checked my email again, this time to see the infamous Mailer Daemon. The email I had sent to the winner, Danielle S, bounced back as undeliverable and was showing up as an invalid email address. I thought perhaps I had misspelled the email address, so I copy and pasted the address from the blog form and sent out another email. This one was bounced back to me immediately.

Needless to say, I immediately edited my post to inform Danielle that her email was bouncing and to please contact me with a valid email address. Still heard nothing. I repeated this process again on Wednesday morning, and again the email bounced back to me. One last message was sent on Thursday morning, and yet again, it bounced back as an invalid address. Now when I mentioned that the email was bouncing I had several of the entrants (as well as non-entrants) request a redraw because the winning entry was clearly invalid. I wanted to give Danielle a chance though and waited until the scheduled deadline for a response. The time has come and gone and still no word from Danielle so it’s time for a redraw. I’m sorry Danielle, but it really is not fair to the other entrants to wait any longer, especially when your initial entry was invalid due to the usage of a non-working email address.

With that said, we have a new winner to announce:

Congratulations Kat! You are the winner of the re-draw and the proud new owner of a Hello Kitty wallet.

To all of the entrants of this giveaway, my deepest apologies over the drama that arose because of this. I’ve never had this happen before in all of the years that I’ve held contests and giveaways (some of which were on fan sites and fans can get crazy). To make up for this, the next giveaway, which will be announced in April, will be just as easy to enter, despite what I had planned, and will be featuring several prizes. This of course means that there will be more chances to win and more winners too. :D

Again, my deepest apologies for this. :)

    Yay! I won! LOL
    Thank you!

Sorry the contest didn’t go as planned the first time around, but I’ve had it happen to me as well, not only with winners not contacting me, but mailing the prize problems up the wazoo.

But coolness, my Badtz Maru wallet is looking rough for wear, so hello kitty! LOL

    Kat,

Congratulations! :) I’m sure you’re gonna rock that wallet out.

I guess I’ve just been really lucky. I have complex contests, where visitors had to find all of the hidden icons and secret entrances to win free swag, done drawings, giveaways – the whole shebang. Never had anything like this happen before. First time for everything I suppose.

    Jules,

Thank you hon. :) May there be no hitches in the next ones though! I might pull all of my hair out. :lmao:

Oh, well if her email address wasn’t valid, then it’s really not your fault, you know? However it’s very decent of you to apologise on this person’s behalf. That’s a mature thing I see some adults doing which I hope to learn.

Also…what’s the stuff about “initiate”, “apprentice”, “mage”, “prophet”, “goddess” all about? It sounds strange and kind of like something out of sorcery?

    Sapphire,

If you can already recognize acts of maturity then you yourself are well on the right path. :)

As to the “initiate”, “mage”, and so forth. They’re just commenter ranks. You may notice that on some message boards, after you’ve achieved so many number of posts, you get a rank. Whether it’s just from “newbie” to “regular”. That’s pretty much all it is here too. I thought it would be fun to recognize regular returning commenters with a “rank” and since I like magic and fantasy I picked names that followed that theme. Well except for Goddess, since I’m the blog owner (hence Goddess) no one else can hold that rank. ;) There is a demi-god rank though.
