Grimmjow Got Robbed of Screen Time

Bleach 167Upon the conclusion of episode 167 of Bleach, yeah I finally got a chance to watch it last night, the only thing I could think of was “well that sucked”. It wasn’t that the closed captioning subtitles were bad, or the animation sucky, and it wasn’t even because of the IchiOri scene inserted in there either. This Grimmjow fangirl was royally pissed that her favorite character totally got robbed of the glorious fight he had in the manga. They completely condensed a fight that took several chapters to cover and placed the bulk of it in one episode, including his back story! And now it appears we’re starting on the filler episodes. Dangit! I so wanted to see Grimmjow kick some serious butt and bloody Ichigo up to hell and back. Instead they do some quick background flashes to make it seem like a lot of the fight scene already happened, it didn’t though obviously, and then it’s over. Grimmjow is pulling out his Desaragon and then that’s it.

Need I also mention that there was absolutely no sight of Halibel and her fraccion? They’re supposed to be watching the fight and it’s the input from Halibel and her fraccion, who are scared of the fight going on, that gives us the best gauge by which to measure Ichigo’s growth. They could have given Grimmjow another episode easily without it seeming to drag. But did they? No. :grr:

I don’t have anything to say. It’s hard to comment on something you know nothing about. I’m sorry you were disappointed?

I’m not a big Grimmjow fan, but I’m a little saddened that we may not to see him again…(*has not caught up to the manga scanlations*). Although I’m a bit hyped about the upcoming fillers. I know fillers are bad, but with Bleach they aren’t as bad as the Naruto fillers IMO, lol.

    Sanjo-chan,

Going by the manga, in the next non-filler episode he’ll make a very brief appearance, about all of five minutes probably. =/ And then we might get to see snatches of him over a few more episodes. But he hasn’t made another significant appearance in the manga yet.

Yeah, generally the Bleach fillers aren’t bad. I know people hated the Bount arc, but I thought it was pretty good for the most part. :D The Naruto fillers, bar a few minor arcs that highlighted favorite characters (Hinata, Anko, and the Sand sibling’s arcs) nearly turned me away from the anime. In fact, I didn’t even watch most of the filler episodes during that infamous time before Shippuuden. I downloaded and burned them to disc, but never really watched ‘em.

What’s got me upset about the upcoming filler arcs is that we won’t be getting to see much of Grimmjow for a long time, and then it’ll only be a small portion. I was just sad to see how much they chopped up his fight. Grimmjow’s fight with Ichigo ran roughly from chapters 278 to 287. Sure there are some snippets of Renji, Ishida and their fight with Syzael Aporro Grantz in there, but the main focus was Ichigo and Grimmjow. Generally I’m not a fan of Dragonball-like battles that span multiple episodes, but really, given the background and story that Kubo gave to Grimmjow, there was no way the bulk of his fight and his backstory should have been condensed in one episode. *sigh*
