Going for Two Weeks in a Row

Now, as I’ve mentioned before, at my job there are two ways to get paid; hourly or commission. You are guaranteed hourly pay, however, if what you make on commission comes out to more than what you would get versus hourly, then you get paid by commission. Last week was the first week where I actually made more via sales commission than by hours worked. I can’t wait to get the pay for that week this upcoming Tuesday.
Now I’m aiming for two weeks in a row.
This week I’ve been consistent in sales thus far, every day has been four or five sales. I actually think it’s been five a day thus far, but I could be mistaken. The thing is, we’ve been selling two different programs: PCS for Debit Card and PCS for Credit Card. Now, unfortunately, the commission varies. The commission for the Credit Card plan is actually higher than the Debit Card one. On Monday we stayed on PCS Debit all night and, I believe, I had five sales. Wednesday I know I had five sales as well, but I believe only two or three were PCS Debit, the others were Credit. Tuesday I can’t remember if it 4 or 5 sales let alone the numbers. Tonight I do know I got 3 Debit and 2 Credit sales.
Hours wise, my hours have been funny and slightly less this week. We came in at 4pm today and left at 8pm, so that’s only 4 hours there. Wednesday we came in at 4pm and left at 9:30, that’s 5 1/2 hours there. Both Monday and Tuesday we came in at 3pm and left at 9:30pm; 6 1/2 hours. So for this week I’ve worked 22 1/2 hours total thus far with a tentative (10am to 3:30pm) 5 1/2 hours on the way for Saturday making my hours for the week a total of 28 hours.
Now this is where I hate the difference in commission. If both programs were the flat $10 commission then all I would need is 3 sales on Saturday and I would be earning commission instead of hourly. But, because the Debit is worth only $6.25 and the Credit is $10, I am seeing a huge difference in commission earned. Now, I know for sure that I had 5 sales on Monday and 3 today that are Debit sales. Ouch, that hurts. I’m also fairly certain that I had 3 debits on Wednesday as well and Tuesday too. Talk about major loss there. I really need to rack in the sales on Saturday in order to make sure I hit commission.
I still can’t help but to cringe when I think about the fact that I have 20 sales so far for this week, and because of the difference in commission pricing, I’m not hitting commission yet.

I’m sure that you’ll have a big paycheck. I’m glad that your work is going well. good luck!
The commission difference is weird, cause it’s not like you can choose to only sell the items with larger comission.
Well congrats on making commission! Although it sucks that you have to sell so much to make commission. At least you get hourly regardless of whether you make commission or not. Good luck on getting ti again
I guess you have all the luck! I wish I have your luck, too. My contract with my job ends on the 14th. I will be jobless soon
Oh wow that is kind of a big difference. I’m so glad that your job is going well for you!
