I’m placing this post tentatively under the “Work” category because, with any luck, I might finally have a job where I can put my degree to use! I got an email notification stating that Customs and Border Patrol had requested my resume to be sent to them and that career services had sent it on my behalf.

Believe me when I say that is some of the best news I’ve heard in a very long time. The job search hasn’t gone all that well. And to be frank, I’d almost gotten desperate enough to start applying for a burger-flipping job. I mean hey, not to knock it or anything, but I did invest several years of my life for a fancy piece of paper that says I’m highly educated. I’d hate to put it to use at the same sort of job that kids in high school work at in order to have spending money because mommy and daddy won’t just hand over their credit cards. Know what I mean?

My cellphone is now constantly charged and I keep an ear tuned to it in the hopes of hearing it ringing. I want to hear something Is this Joana Rodriguez? Hi, yes, we were wondering if you would be interested in a position…

Now that would be total music to my ears.
