Fearing the Scale

Food and Drink, Health and Beauty, Rants and Raves - - Posted on August, 25 at 6:24 am

Ugh. I swear, I am positively afraid to step into the bathroom right now as I have desire to step onto the scale and check my weight. And since I happen to have a rather weak will, when it comes to refraining from critiquing myself, I know I won’t be able to resist the temptation.

I suffer no delusions, I know I gained weight this weekend. After scoring a serious amount of freshly picked chili (We actually went back and got more!) we went a bit over board. Now chili is generally healthy, except when you stuff it with cheese, dip it in batter, and fry it. Then it becomes a relleno and is just greasy and fattening. But damn do they taste good! Then there were the tortillas, the fresh crock pot of beans, and the rice. Nothing but starch and grease. Definitely not healthiest to eat.

I think I’ll be spending a few hours at the gym later today, specifically the ellipticals. No doubt.

Well, I’m off for my morning walk now! Actually, if I’m not mistaken, a term for a “walk” is a “constitutional”. Where the hell did that term come from?

Never had rellenos. LOL Not sure if I’d like them or not - if they’re really spicy, probably not. ;)

And I’d love to know what twitter-brain thought up “constitutional” for a walk. Like we needed a big fancy word for walk. LOL

    Charity,

Well, I wouldn’t say they’re spicy so much as hot - if you happen to have the ones made with hot chili. Basically, a relleno is a green chili that is grilled, the skin is peeled off, and stuffed with cheese. Then the chili is batter dipped and fried. You can have them without the batter too, but generally folks eat them with the batter, which is where all the fat and grease come in.

Indeed! The first time I heard someone say “I’m going for my daily constitutional” I swear I thought they were trying to find a polite way to say “go take a shit” or something. :lmao: Come to find out it references a “walk” and I’m like :wtf: - completely unnecessary term! :)
