FAnime Friday: Bleach – The DiamondDust Rebellion

Bleach the Movie: DiamondDust Rebellion, Another Hyourinmaru (Gekijouban Burichi Za Daiyamondo Dasuto Reberion Mou Hitotsu no Hyourinmaru), directed by Noriyuki Abe, hit theaters in Japan on December 22, 2007 and is still currently playing. This blogger has but one question, when will someone finally get around to getting a bootleg of it up on the internet?!
An artifact from Soul Society known as the Kingdom Treasure Stamp has been stolen and the Tenth Division captain Hitsugaya Toushirou is dispatched to retrieve it. However, after having a run-in with the thieves Hitsugaya goes AWOL forcing Soul Society to believe he was in cahoots with the thieves from the very beginning which results in the order being given for his capture and execution.
Shiro-chan, a criminal? Yeah, no Bleach fan let alone Toushiro-fangirl/boy is going to buy that. Something has to be wrong with this picture. Thankfully the fans aren’t the only ones who believe this. Kurosaki Ichigo, Kuchiki Rukia, Matsumoto Rangiku, and Abarai Renji team up together to locate Toushiro and clear his name. Of course, as you can see by watching the trailer below, it’s not going to be easy, especially since it all revolves around a shinigami and former friend of Toushiro’s who has long since been thought dead – Soujirou Kusaka.
Unfortunately, if the wait for this movie to be subbed or even just released on the internet in it’s raw form is anything like the previous movie, Memories of Nobody, we have a long period of “what the hell happened? tell us!!” to get through. My apologies for not being able to find the movie anywhere on the net. I’ve stumbled across a few sites that might have portions of the movie up, however, they’ve given my popup blocker one hell of a workout and after I caught one site downloading junk onto my computer I wisely exited and then scanned and removed the gunk from the computer. If there are any readers in Japan who have seen the movie, could you be enticed into summarizing it for us and sharing your thoughts?
In the mean time there isn’t much you can do except to download the soundtrack, which is available for download at BleachExile.com. I highly recommend that you scurry on over and download it. There are a couple of songs on it, per usual, that have been used in the anime series for some time now that hadn’t been released on any of the soundtracks yet. If you recall the scene where Ichigo is fighting his inner-hollow for control during his Vizard training. At the moment when he grips his sword, pulls it out of his stomache, twirls it and charges the hollow there is some awesome background music there that appears a few more times in the series but has never been on a soundtrack before now. As you might have guessed, it’s on the DiamondDust Rebellion OST. It’s entitled “Breakthrough Even” and is track number 20. Once again, Shiro Sagisu has outdone himself composing the music – you have to go and download this album.

How exciting! I’m giggling while replying because I’m being interrupted every minute or so by my husband who is reading through our current haul of Bleach manga (we’re still behind but catching up). LOL.
pussreboots,
Are you following the Japanese manga that is being translated online or the books published in English?
Don’t worry, I fell behind myself…since I don’t know where you’re at I’m not going to say what point I left off since it might be spoilers. Let’s just say that where I left off in the manga, the anime series currently airing in Japan hasn’t yet caught up to it yet.
Yes, this movie is so exciting. I loved “Memories of Nobody” but this one revolves around Toushiro who is one of my favorite characters – doubly exciting!
We’re reading the Tokyo Pop translations. Neither of us knows enough Japanese to try reading the original versions.
pussreboots,
Where are you at then?
If you want to follow along with the current manga you could always download the fan-translated versions of the current chapters being released in Japan.
My husband is on volume 12 and I’m on volume 9. The fan subs are a good thing to keep in mind. Thanks.
