Deadly Chore: Bathing Denali

Since it’s summer time now, and her claws have made a full recovery, Denali has been spending a lot of time outside. Unfortunately this seems to be the Year of the Tick, because we are already seeing a plethora of ticks outside. They’re not on the walls or anything like they were that one year, but it’s becoming a little too common to glance down at the sidewalk and spy a tick crawling across instead of a black ant. *shudders*
So, since Denali wants to be outside I decided the girls needed another flea and tick bath, despite having one that long ago. Denali goes outside regularly and I don’t really want her bringing them in to us and Isis. So bath it was. Now, normally Isis is the fussy one when it comes to baths, but she was an angel this time. Well, except for the occasional loud yowling that got even Shizuku sniffing and pawing at the door wondering what was up. After that it was Denali’s turn, and Denali is usually very easy to bathe. Usually, being the keyword.
Want to know what Denali thought about getting another bath today? Check out the images below:
Those were taken earlier, now the really nasty one on my right-arm is bruising around it and a portion of my arm is swollen. I’ve got scratches and bite marks, yes she actually bit me, several times in fact, all over my arms and hands now as a result. My right-arm is definately the worst, it actually hurts when people touch it accidentally. Despite taking baths just fine for X-amount of years, Denali decided to play to the old “cats hate water” bit. She definately made her displeasure know. Punk.
Then of course, while I was spraying insecticide around the foundation of the house I managed to somehow get some in a cut. Stung like hell, although not as bad as the Seven-Dust that got in a cut I hadn’t noticed before. By the end of all that I was (and still am) really wanting some massage therapy.
But hey, at least the cats got bathed, insecticide (spray and powder) got put down, and tomorrow the doggies get a bath. Which, if Shizu has his way, means I get a bath with him too.

Ouch. I wonder if the flea/tick bath products hurt, or maybe she just decided to be a butt. Years ago I was spraying my cat with flea stuff, and she was having none of that and was fighting, resulting in a huge gash across my leg, which got flea spray stuff in it, and turned GREEN! My cut was GREEN. I still have the scar. So I can understand how much fun you’re having now with all the cuts on your arms.
