And We Needed to Go, Why?

So as you probably surmised from the post title, the doctor’s appointment was a bust. We went, spent thirty minutes waiting in the waiting room, ten minutes in the back waiting for the nurse to return to take my grandfather’s stats, then after she left we spent another thirty minutes waiting on the doctor.

Talk about hurry up and wait.

And after all that, what happened? Not a damn thing. The doctor asked if my grandfather wanted to take the catheter out today, which he naturally wanted to do, then explained the repercussions. Basically, because we had a late appointment, if my grandfather ran into trouble after the catheter was removed my grandfather would have to spend the night in an ER until the doctor’s office opened the next day. In the seven hours after removing the catheter, if my grandfather cannot relieve himself on his own, then there was a problem. However, when the seven hour period would be up, the office would have been long closed.

And since they had my grandfather’s files on record, why couldn’t they have realized this on their own and scheduled his appointment for an early morning instead of just bringing him in ASAP?

So, with that risk explained, my grandfather decided he’d like to come in tomorrow, bright and early, at 7:30am to have it removed. Guess who is chauffeur? Yup, that would be me. Both the doctor and my grandfather talked right over me like I wasn’t there, made the plans, and then turned to me and asked if 7:30am would work for me. What am I supposed to say except “of course, no problem!” and smile? Don’t you hate it when people ask your opinion only after everything is decided? It’s like, why bother? Weirdos.

There is however a spot of good news in all of this. My grandfather’s results from the prostate biopsy came back – no cancer! :D :luv: Hearing that more than made up for everything. :)

So yes, this very non-morning person will be getting up bright and early in order to get ready and drive my grandfather to a 7:30am appointment. Oi vey, I’m going to need a caffeine injection. :P

that’s great your grandfather doesn’t have cancer!
sucks about 7:30 though..I’m not to big on mornings either, and I’ve outlawed anything before 6 am in my lifestyle.(at least for now)hopefully you’ll be well rested enough to get up and be alert,if not you could always nap in the waiting room, though that might be more scary then anything else…
Hope the second trip goes well!

That’s great news about your grandfather! :) And I feel your pain. My mom and her doctor used to do that to me all the time, they’d make the appointments and then say to me, “that’s ok, isn’t it?” Like I had any choice but to say yes. LOL

Hope today’s appointment goes better. :)

Aww, that’s good to hear that he doesn’t have cancer, even if you did wait for a long time for practically nothing.

Well I’m glad to hear the results came back negative for cancer! Though you’re right, you’d think they’d be smarter at making the appointment based on his chart.
