A Painless Excursion

I just got back from the mall, and interestingly enough, the trip wasn’t so bad.

The mall wasn’t as crowded as it normally is, probably because at this time all of the kids are still in school, not to mention there is no real holiday coming up to be shopping for either. I was able to get in and navigate my way with ease! So nice. Too bad I didn’t go to the mall for frivolous shopping, but instead to get some necessary supplies from some retailers in the store. Specifically a new battery for my grandfather’s truck at Sears and then I had to pick up some stuff from Bath & Body Works for my mom. Since it’s tax season right now she almost never gets out of work before 8pm. Throw in the fact that the mall is across town from her office and closes at 9pm and it’s a no wonder she can’t get there in time. So I went ahead and did her shopping for her.

I was a really good girl too. I stayed out of Barnes & Noble and Hot Topic. I did not buy any anime, manga, books, dvds, or cds. I didn’t even buy any related paraphernalia either. All I bought for myself was a large slice of pizza. *snickers* Well, here is where I was a bit evil. I stood in line and ordered a large slice of the meat lovers pizza, on a Friday. It’s Lent and around here everybody and their dog seems to be Catholic or Christian. So imagine the horrified looks I got when I ordered that pizza. Since I am neither Asian or Middle Eastern they couldn’t, in their minds, chalk it up to a different religion. I caused quite the stir and even heard one woman whispering about my soul’s condition. Yeah, yeah lady whatever. You want to let some moldy book and papyrus dictate how you can eat, then you go right on ahead.

I was even in such a good mood that I stopped at one of those massage stations that seem to be in every mall and tried out one of their fancy recliners. The one I got to try, which felt delightful I tell you, was something kind of like this zero gravity recliner. Not quite though, but that’s the closest I could find.

Yay for a painless trip to the mall! How nice of you to do other people’s shopping for them.

Yeah if I ever have to go to the mall, I always make sure that I do not go when kids are out of school, otherwise I would be driven mad. I also find it frustrating that people would do that to you about LENT. It is so lame that we live in a day and age where pride lets us believe that we are better than other people. I am sure if I had heard some of those comments that someone would have gotten a punch to the face.

    Cheers.

I wish experiences at the mall were that quick and easy here. Even when kids SHOULD be in school, they’re packed in at the mall instead. I tend to avoid that place like the plague as a result. XD

I hate ignorant people like that. I receive comments similar to the ones you got very often because of the pentacle I wear around my neck.

You’re a lot nicer about it than I am, obviously – I definitely would have said something to them about it.

    Ally,

I used to get pissed off and get in people’s faces when they acted like idiots. Hell, sometimes I still will. But I’ve mellowed a lot and I’ve found that sometimes the best way to piss ‘em off in return is to just smile and not let ‘em get to ya. It really f**ks with their heads. XD

Of course, for those that don’t take the hint, they’re fair game. ;)

It was rude what the women did to you, but I wouldn’t say that it dictates their eating habits. It’s more to show respect and to honor tradition in my opinion than anything else. Truth be told, I forgot a few Fridays to stay vegetarian, but then again, I am quite the liberal religious person anyway. =P

I’m proud that you didn’t indulge in anything for yourself, besides the pizza that is. Yay self-discipline!
