I am very proud of my mother right now. As I mentioned in previous posts she’s been gearing up to getting an office of her own and moving the business from operating solely at home. She’s not ready to sever her ties with her current place of employment yet, but she is almost ready to be completely on her own.
A current client of her’s, that specializes in legal stuff that goes right over my head, offered her a space for $300 a month which covers rent, utilities, and internet. She’s have a small waiting room and an office for herself. She’s so very thrilled, and really I can’t blame her. This client has been sending her clients to my mom for quite some time now. They take care of their stuff with her and then they usually head to my mom for their accounting needs. Now with my mom and her in the same building together it’s all in one place. So the other woman doesn’t have to worry about loosing clients to competitors who might be able to handle more of their needs, she’s very specialized from what I gather, I know she handles road taxes and other stuff I am even less familiar with but she’s no accountant, and my mom gets a few more clients as well. Plus now all of her current clients have an office where they can reach her during whatever hours she sets up, and they can drop stuff off there too.
I’m not sure what the hours are going to be since it’s tax season and she’s not cutting her ties at her other place, but her business is growing and gaining momentum. I am very proud of her.

That sounds like a really good deal for your Mom. She’ll get to share space with someone she knows and trusts and the clients get a convenience of going to one place.

She gets a great start for her business, she gets to share space with someone she knows and who is as dedicated to seeing her succeed as she is, and she’s getting that office space for a great price.

Yup that was the big motivator, sharing space with someone she trusts, not having to say anything to her current boss about it yet, and she can now take more clients because she can operate better. We just got a new computer too so that one’s going to her office. It’s a powerful little sucker. XD

It is a great price huh? At first I was like, isn’t that pricey? But when I thought about it, you can’t rent a *decent* apartment for $300 and under. Just the roach motels along the redlight district. Office space is generally more to rent so yeah, it really is a good deal come to think of it.
And yes, the woman she’s renting from is someone dedicated to seeing her succeed too. She’s been after my mom to get on with her business, to get out of that stressful workplace she’s at now, as much as some of my mom’s friends, other clients, and me.
Then of course the added benefit my mom brings to her as well.
That’s a big step indeed! Hurray to your mother for being able to further her career. =)
