Will She Become an Awakened Being?

So I just got a chance to finish watching episode number twenty-two of Claymore and wow. Twenty-One was frightening in the sense that I can’t recall another anime series where so many characters who had grown on fans just started dropping like flies. Left, right, and down the center they all die. Unidine, Jean, Flora, and then the plethora of other Claymores who are also fighting in Pieta. It’s just really frightening. This should have been grounds for me to get upset with the series, but it seems highly realistic to me. They are in the middle of a war with these monsters that are the strongest they have ever been and in large numbers to boot. You would expect many warriors to fall, but most series would keep the majority of the beloved ones alive. So I like that Claymore is more focused on being true to the story and reality of it.
That and the fact that Miria, Deneve, Helen, and Clare are all still alive and they are my favorites and they’re all still alive.
But episode number twenty-two is even better and has me literally on the edge of my seat and eagerly awaiting number twenty-three. To save Miria, Clare has pushed herself seemingly beyond her limits. The episode ended with Clare looking the most feral and evil as she has ever looked, which begs the question of whether there is anything left of her humanity to be saved or if she will fully awaken now and become an Awakened Being. And since Raki isn’t there, but on his way, you can’t help but wonder if he can save her, if he’ll even make it in time.
Damn it! When does the next episode come out?!

Oooh this series sounds really good! Is it true anime??
I should look it up on Youtube later. I’m glad you still like the anime even though many of the characters died.
Hopefully the series will satisfy you!
I’ve never heard of Claymore but it sounds like a really cool anime! I just started watching Naruto from episode 1 again the other day. Haha. I’m gonna try to download the first few episodes of Claymore and see if I like it
Teelia,
It is a very good series, and yes it’s a true anime.
It’s currently being aired in Japan. You can look it up on YouTube, however, you probably won’t find any episodes aside from the latest (I’ve seen 21 and 22) on there. It seems the anime nazis are cracking down on there as I just don’t see the others, which were there, anymore.
If you want to download the entire series you might want to try anime-sensei.net. I know they have the entire series there to download, as well as a bunch of other ones too. I don’t know if you saw it, but I had a FAnime Friday post recently that was about this series: http://nanashi-inc.net/weblog/2007/fanime-friday-claymore/ which will hopefully give you a little more information about it.
Jean,
You can find episodes of Claymore to download at anime-sensei.net. I also know for a fact that Bleach Exile has the episodes for this series as well. The only problem there, for me, is that Bleach Exile has them in .avi format which I can’t watch at home.
For more information on Claymore you might want to check out this post I did: http://nanashi-inc.net/weblog/2007/fanime-friday-claymore/
Ah Naruto, another favorite of mine. XD
Well, to be a good series, sometimes you have to kill the characters off. For instance, would Death Note be Death Note without killing our favorites?
It’s good that it’s shocking. That means the writers aren’t afraid.
Sounds cool. Maybe Mari will find the manga somewhere. Is there a manga? Or is Claymore one of those weird anime-only series?
Mari,
You bring up a very good point there.
I confess though, I was a bit hurt that Jeane died. ;_; I really wanted her to make it through the battle. And yes, there is a manga for this series. I haven’t read the manga though, I’ve just watched the anime. ^_^
