Stupid Fed Ex and Annoying Spencer’s

Less than twenty minutes ago I was absolutely ecstatic. The Fed Ex truck pulled up and the guy got out and brought this huge box to the front door. There was only one reason why a package should be arriving – my purchase from Spencer’s had arrived!
A little while back I ordered the Dragon Bubble Mantel Clock online since I really dislike driving all the way to El Paso just to go to one store. Well it arrived today but I was less than pleased. They placed the clock, which was wrapped in its own factory packaging, inside a huge-ass box with just a few sheets of packing paper – no cushion what so ever. That didn’t bode well, but I didn’t want to think on it too much. Well I pulled out the clock box, noticed some funny stains on the box, and my heart plummeted into my stomach. Sure enough I open the package to a rain of glitter and some liquid. One of the clock’s bubble poles is busted and the glitter and water that was inside was all over the place.
I called customer service but it appears that since I opened it I have to take it to a store and exchange it for an in-store one or get store credit.
So now I have to make the trip to El Paso just for the clock.
Seriously I’m just pissed and sad at the same time. I was looking forward to having this clock decorate my desk and now I have this broken defective thing that I have to exchange, which might not even be in the store, in which case I just get store credit.

god that sucks. i would’ve cause hell over that, well not me..my mom would.
oh yeah, i didn’t put up the new layout yet
it is too skinny to me which is probably why i hate it so much now. i don’t know what i was thinking when i made that, probably high or something jk
Nichelle,
Ah, I must have misunderstood your post then. I could have sworn you said you put up the new layout, and since I hadn’t visited before I didn’t realize it wasn’t up.
I wanted to cause hell over it, believe me when I say that I am not one to take things lying down, but I was just too tired and upset over some e-drama that has been going on for the past two days. I just ended up going “fine, whatever” and hung up. I’m worn out and arguing with them doesn’t make my clock unbroken ya know?
awe I’m so sorry about the clock hun. as for the e-drama I’m here if you need me *huggles*
That’s awful! Just ridiculous. I mean really, DUH you opened it, how are you supposed to know it’s damaged if you don’t open it! That’s awful that now you have to drive all the way to El Paso to get it exchanged
Maybe you need to call ahead to the store and explain your issue and have them hold you a clock till you come to exchange.
Karyn,
Thank you hun. I made a post about the e-drama, email or PM me and I’ll give you the password to view it.
Julie,
My sentiments exactly. Actually that’s a good plan, I was planning on just driving over tomorrow since I don’t have any classes and I don’t go in to work until the evening but I’ll call first and see if they have it or can order one and hold it for me.
That sucks, you would think for the money you spend on an item they would invest some of that money into shipping it better.
Danni,
Bingo! Especially since everything is shipped via Fed Ex, which isn’t all that cheap compared to the USPS. Since they only ship by Fed Ex they obviously don’t ship to P.O. boxes. One would think that with this selectiveness they would actually give a damn about how they ship things out. I guess not though.
Ok, how stupid can Spencer’s be? Of course you had to open it to find out that it was broken! They shouldn’t make you take it back to a store. That’s just wrong. If you’d wanted to go to the store in the first place, you’d have gone. I never go to Spencer’s though. They never have anything I’m interested in.
Charity.
Spencer’s just isn’t what it used to be. The last couple of times I have gone to Spencer’s I was greatly disappointed and left with nothing. That’s another reason why I didn’t want to go to Spencer’s to use my gift cards too. Why drive all the way to El Paso (an hour drive) just for nothing? So I thought it best to see their entire collection online and order that way. Guess it wasn’t he brightest idea after all. But yeah, how convenient. You have to handle exchanges and refunds in-store which completely defeats the purpose of online shopping. What if your nearest store was well over 600 miles away? What then?
