The Bad: Oku-sama wa Joshi Kousei

I just finished watching the first episode of Oku-sama wa Joshi Kousei (おくさまは女子高生), which literally translates to My Wife is a High School Girl and subsequently trying to skim two more episodes before I gave up and deleted the files from my hard drive.
Was I having trouble getting the files to play, perhaps some other kind of computer trouble? No, it’s just that bad. I suppose if you’re looking for an anime with a heroine who is desperate to have sex with her husband, and fantasizes about it every chance she gets, is so well endowed she looks like she is about to pop out of her school uniform, and blushes and poses provocatively at every turn then this is perfect for you. If you’re looking for an anime where the characters are more than two dimensional and there is an actual plot, then I strongly recommend you bypass this one.
And I know the hentai lovers out there are itching to get their fingers on this anime after my brief little description of what to expect. Sorry to say folks, it’ll disappoint you in that department as well. Nani?! Yup, it borders on soft R occasionally since the animators take every opportunity to place Asami in outfits that frame her figure and draw attention to her measurements, or they take her out of it, (see pictured) but that’s it.
So it lacks plot, substantial characters, and seems to serve no real purpose. Why the hell was this series produced?
The plot, a young high school girl named Onohara Asami is married to her physics teacher Ichimaru Kyosuke. The marriage contract was drawn up by her father, but according to the contract, the two of them cannot have a sexual relationship until Asami graduates from high school. Because of the age difference the two endeavor to keep the marriage a secret from Ichimaru’s colleagues and Asami’s friends. Due to the absurdity of the situation and her friends, this is hard to do.
It seemed like it had the potential for hilarity. Instead it was just stupid. I was going to review this for FAnime Friday, but I figure, why wait. This isn’t the sort of thing to anticipate.
EDIT: It would appear that, after having posted this review, I’ve perked quite a few people’s interest in this series. Since I really do not advocate spending money on it, not even to rent, I would recommend going to Ani-Haven and downloading it for free. If you don’t have a Premium Megaupload account it might take a little while to download the entire series since the free downloads are hamstrung a bit, but if you’re an anime fan, investing in a yearly subscription is well worth it.

As women, we see this as just asinine. I’ll bet it fulfills a LOT of fantasies for an entire subset of preteen boys and questionable adult men

I found Onegai Teacher to be a bit better than this one, and I’m not that big a fan of OT either.

I suspect that was the purpose behind this series. Give ‘em something to fulfill the fantasies that can be viewed on public television.
Ironically enough, I just found out there is a game for this series on PSP2. That just boggles the mind.

That is… a weird plot line. It does sound as if it could provide some comedic entertainment, but I’ll take your word that it won’t be worth watching.
Don’t you hate it when they make almost all the girls well-endowed EXCEPT for the one they tease? It reminds of Mai Hime (except without all the sex stuff I think, but I do believe it started as a sex game?)
