Official Alumni of NMSU

I am no longer a “candidate for a degree” in Criminal Justice, rather I am now an official Alumni of New Mexico State University. We had our graduation ceremony today. The graduates had to line up outside, in the freaking cold, but I’m sure it was well worth it for our families to see us walk across the stage. I know my mom was thrilled.
My mother didn’t understand how to work my digicam so most of the shots she took on that one didn’t come out, but she took some with a disposable so when we get those developed I’ll post some. Also, when we get the professional photos I guarantee I’ll get some posted.

Photo of the cover of the commencement book.

Here’s a snapshot of the certificate they give us during the ceremony since the actual diplomas will be mailed after grades are posted on the 20th.

Here’s my page in the commencement book. Can you find my name?

Posing for a picture after the ceremony

My friend Mayra and I after the ceremony. Mayra actually graduated last year. Lucky girl!

From left to right: Alicia, Me, and Carlos…who protests the torture of KFC chickens.
Don’t ask.
It feels weird thinking of myself as a college graduate, but there you go. I did it, somehow, and now I just need to get ready and move on to the next stage of my life, whatever that may be.

WOOHOO!
Congrats again! LOL, what is it with schools sending out the actual degree diplomas after the graduation ceremonies? They all seem to do that.
Congratulations on your graduation Joana!!!! That’s awesome hon. You look so happy in your pictures, and I did find your name in the commencement book.
Looking forward to seeing your professional photos too! Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide to do next…I’m sure you’ll do an awesome job at it. *hug*
Congrats!
And your name is in the right hand column, 8th one down. I think.
What? No photo of you in a skirt? I was jibbed. Haha. CONGRATS hon. You did it! I’m so proud of my Lady Joanana.
Congratulations! I wish you the best in your path ahead.
Oh, and your cap and gown looks SO MUCH WAY BETTER and stylish than mine when I graduated. Black is slimming, LOL.
L8tr days,
FO
Julie,
That would be one of the many pics my mom goofed up on when she used my camera. Skirt shots are going to have to wait until we get the disposable one developed. =/ I seem to be the only one in my family that can work my camera.
FruityOaty,
Thank you hun! Yeah, I was exceptionally pleased that we got to graduate wearing black. So much classier and dignified I think. When I graduated high school we wore maroon ones, which was lucky actually, since every year they rotate it. I could have ended up wearing the cheesy gold ones instead. x_X
Kat,
Thank you! And yuppers, you found me.
Aly,
Thank you. I did enjoy the ceremony much more than I anticipated, it certainly drove home the fact that this was it, I had done it. That in and of itself is something to smile over.
Congrats on finding my name! My grandfather actually couldn’t find my name in the commencement book, but then he didn’t understand how it was set up either.
Charity,
I can’t fathom the logic either. In high school they gave us just the leather folded diploma holders and then after the ceremony we went back stage and got the diploma. That made sense because things can get out of order or people not show up and it would suck to get someone else’s diploma and not your own.
But to mail it so late after? It’s almost like they want to jinx us by having the ceremony first before we know what the final outcome will be.
