Not Always Right but Never Wrong

Well I am exceptionally please to report that the situation (1 & 2) with the IRS has at last been resolved. Now of course the IRS claim to not be at fault, even though they have stated repeatedly that they were holding my return but would not say why. It took several phone calls from myself, my mother, and one of my mother’s co-workers (they’re both accountants), but at long last this fiasco has come to a close.
After the last call by my mother the State IRS representative she spoke with said that there was a minor misunderstanding and that things would be cleared up soon. The woman than of course had the gall to say that next time I shouldn’t wait until the last minute to file my tax return.
I filed in February, that’s hardly “the last minute”. Just goes to show that they can’t take responsibility for their own fuck ups and have to attempt to shift the blame elsewhere whenever possible. But I’m not going to stress or flip out over the shocking rudeness and blatant disregard and disrespect that I encountered because today my return was direct deposited to my checking account at long last. This ordeal is over now.
I can’t wait until next year though when I have to account for the money I’ve earned various advertising companies. At the rate I’m going I’m going to receive a 1099 from one advertising company. Since that means no taxes will have been taken out I am definately going to save receipts for expenses to use for upkeep to counter the amount I’ll owe since I will be considered self-employed and subject to the 15% tax. I just know there is going to be some sort of hassle there.

Government agiencies will almost never admit that they’re the ones who screwed up. They’re the government, so they can’t possibly be at fault – it just must be us stupid civilians (yeah… right…. and I’m the Pope!)
Am glad that everything got figured out though. I know people who’ve had to deal with months of hassle from the IRS because of a ‘slight mixup’ before.
I have to concur with your assessment of our government, hence the title “Not Always Right Never Wrong”. They might say something like, oh errors or glitches occur, but they are never wrong.
Yes I count myself very lucky that I was able to get this resolved as quickly as I did and with fairly minimum fuss. My mother is an accountant and I have heard the horror stories of fighting with the IRS when they are in the wrong. *shudders* I am very thankful that it was resolved within a week and that it only took about 5 or 6 phone calls to accomplish it.
Well I’m very happy to hear it got cleared up. Man, tax people are evil. I can’t believe they’ll go and tell you to not to file at the last minute when you so didn’t. They’re just idiots. But I’m very happy you’re in the clear. Really though, you’re making that much from sponsored posts that you would need to pay out on that? Well, yay then, cause that means you’re doing well with those.
Glad to hear things worked out, I’m worried about saving money for my PPP taxes too, I love the title “not always right but never wrong”, it’s going to be my new mantra.
