Internet Security

We’ve been having trouble with our computer and our internet security software never locates a virus or seems capable of locating spyware either. If it wasn’t for AdAware there would be a lot more adware/spyware on our computer. This has gotten me to thinking that the software we have, Norton, may not be the best. There is a site, Best Internet Security, that gives a fair and helpful review of several “top brand” antivirus software programs. I was rather surprised to see that Norton received a ranking of 7.5 and is in second place. Their detection rate is at a 97.61% which I wonder about as it seems to be lower than that given the fact that it’s prone to block programs that need to access the web and has forced me to lower it’s settings and levels to operate other programs. For example, my ftp program, Norton absolutely hates it.

BIS has Kaspersky Internet Security listed as the top brand with a rating of 8.4 out of 10, 99.57% detection rate, and excellent ease of use. I would suggest that before you go out and buy new software, as we’re contemplating, to give this site and similar ones a thorough look over in order to make a smart purchase.

Mari has never even heard of Kaspersky, but apparently Mari’s Pc-cillin is rated the worst? At least it’s last on the list. And the article doesn’t talk about the detection rate for it.

Well, at least it had comprehensive articles on the other programs.

    Mari,

Wow, I have never even heard of PC-cillian before! Maybe it’s the worst for a reason? I dunno, I’m seriously looking into getting Kaspersky for our computer since Norton doesn’t seem to be doing its job.
