Group Projects Are The Bane of College

In my CJ 453 class I have a group outline and presentation due Tuesday evening when we come back from the fall break. Supposedly we’re doing a music video for our project since power point presentations are not allowed and the professor didn’t want to have to carry back anything cumbersome to look over and grade (like posterboards). The group outline has to have a section done by each member and they need to fit seamlessly as though one person did it. Mine isn’t typed, but it was pretty much done the moment I did the bibliography and possible citations assignment. Just have to flesh it out a bit and it’s done. Defiantly won’t even take an hour to do.
But this music video thing, our group never wanted to meet during the fall break. They gave me a last minute heads up about meeting the Friday before break, and considering everything else going on that day and how far I live away I couldn’t make it, but that was it. We’re supposed to meet sometime after Thanksgiving, but before we turn in the project, to work on it. Supposedly they looked for pictures to use in the video, but they seem to be under the impression that I’ll make the video. Sorry ladies, I don’t know much about it at all. I would have needed all week to figure it out and put something decent together. This is too last minute. I’ve emailed the members asking when we’ll get together, no word from them. I’m of half a mind to email the professor and tell her what’s going on. This really fucking bites. Did I mention we’re also the first group to have to present on Tuesday too?
On the bright side of things though, the new monitor is hooked up and I can see things in the glorious colors they were meant to be!
Much relief there, I can get to work on graphics again.

That sucks about group projects like that, people are just so flaky and not responsive and then blame it on you. I had a professor talk to me about being a bad team member once, cause the other team ratted me out for not helping to work on the project, but they never told me when/where they were meeting. So I can totally feel you being mad at them. I hope you can figure it out and meet with them to get it done before Tuesday. Good luck.
I hate group projects. I usually end up doing the majority, if not all, of the work and everyone else gets credit for it. But my professors were the type that if you mentioned to them that there was a problem, you were just trying to get out of your portion of the assignment. *rolls eyes*
Julie,
Ugh, I had a group try and pull that on me too once. Lucky for me I had been in constant communication with the professor about it and forwarding all of the few, but bitchy and rude, emails I received from them. I hope we can meet up, but truth be told, I’m emailing the professor tonight to let her know what’s up.
Charity,
I’ve had a few professors like that as well. Frankly, I just hate group projects period. I can do the work just fine on my own and I’ve yet to be in a group on a project or presentation that I couldn’t have handled just fine on my own.
