Denali, the Four-Clawed Kitty

We just got back from Dr. Calista’s and Denali is now snug on my bed and sleeping off the effects of the anesthesia. As you can guess by the title of this entry, Dr. Calista was forced to remove the remainder of the pulp and debris and cauterize the wound. The claw will now never grow back, but the other claw is expected to make a comeback.
Denali is flying high as a kite right now, and she’s got enough pain killers (plus antibiotics for the infection) to become a kitty-drug dealer. I fear for the other kitties in the neighborhood, there is now a bad element here.
I’m going to have to rethink my earlier belief that Denali hates me. The first thing she did when she saw me was to start this loud rumbling purr. If you knew Denali personally, you would have been shocked. Her voice is very soft and she doesn’t care much for purring, when she does it’s very quiet. So she must still love me.
Or she was just glad the torture was over.

A third OR is that she was high and the effects made her affectionate. Daddy sometimes gives Lapy some valarian root powder and it makes her so drunk and happy and purry and mrrrry heh. I’m so glad your kitty is ok now, even if she’s one claw low, at least she’s gonna recover. Poor baby kitteh. But man, how much did this visit set you back? Vets cost so much and surgery just must be awfully expensive.
