BTT: Volume

This week’s Booking Through Thursday question is a little late in the day. Ah, who am I kidding? I’m very late today! My excuse? Studying?

More like wandering around in a daze really.

Would you say that you read about the same amount now as when you were younger? More? Less? Why?

Without a doubt, I did a hell of a lot more reading when I was a kid then now. Even though I have my own mode of transportation and money to invest in reading materials I seem to read less than when I was a kid. And by this I’m talking about leisure reading, not reading because I have to.

The ‘why’ behind it? Quite simply put, lack of time and the imposition of responsibilities. I could read during class (because I was bored), before school, after school, on the bus, before I went to bed, on the weekends, late into the night, all summer long – you get the point. Now I have other things to do and a short time to do them which results in me reading in my spare moments. And since there are other things that I’d like to do as well or have to do, reading has to compete with other stuff even then. :(

Being an “adult” sucks. It’s not all about money, your own home, freedom, wedding flowers, traveling the world, or any of the other cool things one might think of while they’re a kid. Who ever told me that growing up was essential and that becoming an adult was rewarding lied through their teeth. :yell:

And you know what else? There is so much more competing with our time. There are DVD movies to watch, online shopping carts to fill, youtube, addictive computer games and so many more. All these gifts of technology add up to the lack of time and imposition of responsibility. Now there’s so much more to do and so much more need to earn money.. I think everybody reads less these days.

I agree, the older that you get the more that you have to do. And sometimes that just is way to much. That’s why I read, is because things just are too much sometimes. Anyways, I loves ya. Got any good books that you would challenge me to read?

yea, I did more reading when I was younger as well. There’s just no time these days and when there is, I’m too wiped to read.

The last thing I read was book seven in Harry Potter… how sad is that??
