Blogging Daily for One Year?!
N-I.net Network, Online - - Posted on December, 28 at 5:52 pm
I know, it sounds crazy right? Especially if you’ve been following my blog for more than a year. December was my anniversary month so to speak, it has been one year exactly that I began to blog regularly and I have to admit it’s been fun. I’ve met quite a few interesting and hilarious new people and cemented older friendships.
I’ve had a blog since, I want to say around 2001. At the time I used DreamJournal to host it since I really didn’t have an idea of how I wanted my personal site to grow at the time. Later it remained there because I couldn’t be bothered to hand code each entry itself. Self-publishing features, very nice. Later of course, as some are aware and as evidenced by the “Pre-WP Archives” I did eventually hand code each entry myself. Talk about tedious! I never seemed to blog regularly either, if you got a new entry once a month for two months in a row you were damn lucky. If you got more than 1 post a month, well hell, it must have been snowing in Tahiti.
When I eventually took the plunge and installed CuteNews I found myself blogging more regularly, because it was just that easy and fun. Using CN though wasn’t satisfactory enough. Despite the fact that there are support forums, the support just isn’t there. Not to mention, I had plugin envy. I got a little tired of hearing friends asking for a plugin (which I never seemed to have trouble locating despite not being a wordpress user myself…it must have been a sign) and I certainly got annoyed every time I saw features, that I thought should be basic, were not included. If you asked for help on how to set something up, you were lucky to get a vague “look at thatpage.php, just reword the coding“. I’m certain that would have been easy to understand if I was a php expert.
So eventually I made the jump and switched to Wordpress and I’ve been blogging regularly ever since.
I’ve done one year of regularly blogging, that in and of itself is an amazing feat for me. Now I’m going to try and challenge myself by blogging daily for one year.
The only exception is February 29th, which is the Blog365 day of rest.
So we’ll see if I can do it. This challenge will, without a doubt, take me to the Outer Banks, of my capabilities and back. Hopefully it will lead to better blogging and writing from yours truly. At the very least it should mean that there’s always something new to see here.
If you decide to sign up for the challenge (I was number 414 to join!) then please consider adding me (Joana) to your friends.
Let me know if you’re going to be taking up the challenge and we can try to keep each other motivated! Gotta hurry though, the fun starts 01/01/2008!
Salutations and thank you for visiting! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or sign up to receive email notifications when new posts are added.

I dunno if I want to do it or not. I’m really on the ledge about it. I mean if my life were more interesting maybe.
I think I would have to be masochistic to sign up, though I’m tempted. I just know I’d fail halfway through February. But hey, I think if I keep up with your multiple daily blogs throughout the year I think I deserve a medal. Whatcha think? And yay for finally making the change to WP to convert yourself to your daily blogging self.
I joined up and I believe I was #212, but I’d have to log in at the site to see. Actually, I need to log in there and play with my profile and stuff. LOL I’ll have to friend you.
Julie,
Heh, just call me a masochist! I kind of doubt that I would be able to blog everyday for one year straight, but then again, who knows. I won’t know until I try and it’ll certainly be fun.
If you can keep up with every post I make hun, you deserve more than a gold medal. Peace prize maybe?
Charity,
Thanks hun. You were actually showing up on my friend’s list when I signed up. Methinks my info from NaBloPoMo was carried over and anyone who was friended there and is doing Blog365 got added ASAP. Heck, it even already had my NaBloPoMo avatar ready for me too. Spooky!
Best of luck!
I signed up, I’m member #477…LOL
Ahhh, you got me! *falls over dead*
You find too much fun stuff to do. It’s severely distracting to a cyber-schooled person’s work ethic.
*mock scolds*
I added you.
Ganbatte!
Mari,
Ack! Don’t blame me, blame Julie. She’s the one who posted about it at the messageboard and then naturally I had to sign up.
Well ya know, if you’re busy that means you’ll have lots of interesting things to blog about!
