Today marked quite a lucky day for my mother and I. First off we were able to go up to Palomas, Mexico and get the ball rolling with her dental work that has been long over due. Then after we had been home for a bit she checked the mail and noticed an excellent used vehicle sale going on. We opted to go on over after it had cooled down a bit and well, they say a picture is worth a thousand words so…

My mother is the proud new owner of a 2004 Nissan Frontier. It’s not the Toyota Tundra or Tacoma that she really wanted but this was in her price range (after tax title and license it came out to $20,000) and she really did like it and want a truck. It’s a standard though, so I can’t drive it. She got to drive it home tonight and boy was she happy. Her mood alternated as she cheered for her new vehicle, mourned the loss of her old Toyota Tercel (traded it in), and kicked herself for the expense. But ultimately she’s happy.

So instead of renting a car to drive up to Las Vegas in we’re going in the new truck. When she was crunching the numbers to see if she could swing it though I had to tease her. I said, “Mom, you do realize that you just volunteered to drive all the way to Las Vegas and back right?” The look on her face was priceless! So apparently I’m going to be getting a crash course in driving standard. Long overdue really, but I don’t mind.

So she got a new truck and dental work, what’s so lucky about that? Well to top it off the dealership was having a promotional thing too and my mom had the winning number for a $250 gift certificate as well. Today was definately her lucky day.
