A Must See Summertime Family Film?

If you’re looking to end your summer with a good movie, especially one that is family friendly you may want to consider buying some tickets to go watch Eye of the Dolphin which opens up in theaters on August 24th, 2007.

Eye of the DolphinEye of the Dolphin, directed by three time Emmy winner Michael D. Sellers and written by Sellars and Wendell Morris, stars Carly Schroeder, (Gracie) an up and coming new star. This movie boasts a rather talent-heavy lineup of supporting actors as well, such as: George Harris (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), Christine Adams (Batman Begins), and Katharine Ross (The Graduate). Which such an all-star lineup it’s hard to imagine going wrong with this film, and indeed, members of IMDB seem to agree with me as well.

Summary: Alyssa (Carly Schroeder) a fifteen year old girl has been recently expelled from high school and is sent to live with her father. Her father, Dr. James Hawk (Adrian Dunbar) is a dolphin research scientist currently residing and studying in the Bahamas. He has no time or patience to deal with the girl and immediately these two butt heads. Feeling trapped on the isolated island Alyssa eventually finds and befriends an orphaned dolphin which changes her outlook on her life and family.

Despite the movie being billed as a family-film it does carry an MPAA rating of PG-13. It would appear that, for the most part it is safe for young children, however, the themes and messages of the film will probably be lost on a younger audience making the movie better suited to pre-teens and teens.

Not too sure about the movie? That’s okay, currently you have the chance to Win Free Movie Tickets to see Eye of the Dolphin, click for more details.

I saw this movie today! I took my three daughters to see it and they all loved it! It’s a much better alternative than ANOTHER Lindsay Lohan movie. This is more like the Whale Rider or Akeelah and the Bee.

    Terri,

I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it! :)

I couldn’t agree more. Truth be told though, I’d take a boring documentary on toe fungus over a Lindsay Lohan film any day.
