A Locket full of Love

the locket in it's caseI ordered a beautiful silver heart-shaped locket from Pictures on Gold a little over two weeks ago and it came in the mail today! Gosh, but the photos from my camera’s phone just don’t do it justice. I’ve been in need of a present for my mother’s birthday, which is coming up in September, and I thought this was just the most perfect idea. The locket is very beautifully designed and has an elegant yet simple design on the front. On the inside I had a recent photo of myself placed inside using their color photo engraving method and I opted to have a small message engraved on the back in brush script which reads:

Your loving daughter – Joana

The locket style I got was LL-512 and came at a very reasonable price. The reason I am doubly happy with this gift is the fact that this locket is in silver. My mother can’t wear gold without turning it right away where it touches her skin and even white gold isn’t immune to her so silver is generally the only kind of jewelry she wears. Problem is, when it comes to lockets and similar personalized jewelry it’s usually only available in gold or white gold, well the high quality stuff that is. This was definately an extraordinary find!

This is the photo I used for the locketThankfully enough the ordering process was very easy as well and I was able to use one of my own photos that I had just taken earlier that day. I wanted to take a close up of the locket to show it to you better but it’s not coming out very clearly so to your left is a scaled down version of the image I used for the locket. I am definately breaking down and buying a digital camera.

Well I hope she likes it, and I hope I can wait until September 26th to give it to her! I have a bad habit of giving her gifts to her early and then hunting for another present a few days before her birthday. :)

    Julie,

Thanks hun! I’m hopping to pick up a new digicam this weekend *crosses fingers* so maybe I’ll be able to post some better pictures here and/or at Vertigo.

Oh, that’s so thoughtful! Your mom will love it.

Yeah, a good digital camera is almost a must these days.

You’re lucky you can get such a good picture of yourself for a locket. And that they had silver. Silver is pretty rare to find in lockets.

    Karyn,

Why thank you hun. *bats eyelashes* Flattery will get you everywhere!

I’m not sure why, but I’ve never really cared for how I look in gold and have always preferred silver myself, although I will wear gold upon occasion. That locket of yours sound beautiful. I think, don’t quote me on this, that I saw something similar on that site. It could have been on another one though.

As soon as she gets her gift I’ll be sure to blog about her reaction. :D

    Mari,

Yes, a good decent silver locket is hard to find at a reasonable price. When I was working at Zales I used to cringe when people who shared my love and or need for silver jewelry came into the store. We had case after case after case of gold and white gold jewelry with a few cases dedicated to platinum. There was only one case that held silver jewelry and I swear, most of it was this tacky stuff that looked like you would give it to a thug or buy it out of a bubblegum machine. It made me cringe to have to direct someone to that case.
