A Blooming Gift

Tea drinking is a big thing in my family, for as far back as I can remember the remedy for many ailments was tea. Drink spearmint (yueva buena) for an upset stomach and sore muscles ect. It’s a habit I picked up from my great-grandmother and it’s something I’ve carried on doing. My mother drinks tea solely for the purpose of relaxing and enjoying the flavor though.
I do that too, to an extent, but she really enjoys coming home after work and drinking a cup or tea or flavored coffee to unwind.
Until today I had never really considered the possibility of tea as art. I suppose you could say there is an art to the preparation and serving of it (like with food) but I couldn’t look at a cup or pot of tea and say “oooh, that’s beautiful!” or “how artistic”. That was until I stumbled upon FullBloomTea.com. Using freshly grown tea that is hand tied FullBloomTea sells teas that become beautiful bouquets when steeped in water. You can make about 3 pots out of them and can then save the bouquet in a jar or pot for decoration.
What you get is this little bundle. You stick it into a pot and pour the water over it and allow it to steep. As the water works into the little bundle it unfolds into a beautiful and artistic bouquet. I am just really baffled and amazed by this. I would have never thought something like this would be possible, but the bouquets that are shown just look so beautiful and beg to be tried. So I’m thinking for Mother’s Day that I’m going to give one to my mother. I’m ordering a star bloom one right now to try for myself and I’m thinking of a sunset bloom for my mother.
I’m really impressed with this idea and I can’t wait until my order arrives. I really, really want to try one of these! Another thing that has thoroughly impressed and surprised me is that FBM.com uses Silver Needle tea for their tea. The reason this surprises me is that the prices they charge are relatively low, yet as anyone who has shopped at organic stores can tell you, silver needle tea is not cheap. So not only does this company have a unique and appealing product but it’s also very affordable and utilizes quality materials. That’s a big plus for me.

Those teas sound so awesome! I think I saw that in the movie Marie Antoinette and had no idea what it was. Let us know what you end up thinking about them and maybe I’ll order some!
