Poetry DawnSingular in beauty and fair of face
was our Dawn.
With hair of spun silk
whose melodious chimes did ring
as she danced on nimble fieet
after her moon.
No call could stop her
and no sound warned her
of the danger swiftly rushing
straight towards our door.
A squelch of tires
a single gasp
left our Dawn
protraste in Death's grasp.
Not a tear did well in Hade's 1 eyes
as Persephone 2 left for the skies
but for the passing of our Dawn
his tears truly fell.
Flashes of blue and red arived
casting forth an erie light
marking death and passing
on this crimson blight.
They need not have appeared
these hovering moths to the flame
for that unwelcome guest
whose name be death
had stolen our morning light.
The beating hearts
of the gazors-on
brought to our ears
no sweet chimes
only a deep and sorrowful knell.
It rose around us
rising and receding
like the ocean's wave
trapping us beneath its fase calm.
Anger and despair filled the evening
chasing away the sun
providing a blanket to cover
the sorrid truths we beheld.
No sooner had the darkness fell
then the fiendish Haiti 3 moved forward
spinning his pitiful tale
of how there was no way to ward.
And from the crowd
a horrified, indignant howl roared
hairs all rose on end at the sound
the sound of anger and one who is scorned.
With a furtive glance
his steps he did retrace
taking him into a Mantis stance 4
though there was no sword or mace.
There he stood
spotted with the crimson stain 5
and though he tried
the spot would there remain.
Their hungry eyes filled the night
naked claws slashed and tore
as if by their own might
thy could erase what had been done.
There it ran, this drink of life
down the streets and to our door
taken from he who'd caused us strife
whose life would be no more.
With their Bachus 6 thirsts sated
and the destinys of these two sealed
to their homes they crept
their dreams a bitter sweet prelude
to an everlasting life, tainted.
And our fair Dawn where may she lay?
Forgotten in her coffin of asphault
alogside her murder, her saviour
whose harsh lesson she had been taught.
This is just another poem I wrote while in Geometry class. I swear math has the weirdest affects on me. And now an explanation of the allusions made:
1. Hades- Greek God of dead, underworld. Zeus forces Hades to allow Persephone to retun to earth for six months, this causes summer. It is said that though he was said, he did not shed a tear.
2. Persephone- Wife of Hades, daughter of Hestia.
3. Haiti- Norse wolf of legend. It is said that if he or his brother Skoll ever catch the moon and the sun the world will come to an end.
4. Mantis Stance- A move used and taught in self-defense.
5. Crimson Stain- The blood that stained Lady Macbeth's hand.
6. Bacchus- Greek God of wine, also rumored to be the cause of Vampres.
