 In a Nutshell

I'm a 23yr old Slytherin female who loves to dream, watch anime, read, drink tea, and sleep. I'm a bit introverted and I can be downright lazy at times. Dragons and kitties make me go 'aww!' but hypocrits, anime haters slow drivers, and spam make me go 'grr!'...more?

 My Name

The meaning of my name, which due to it's odd spelling is actually pretty hard to find, and fun lil versions and translations of it.

Name's History

First, the reasons behind my name. My Mother is a humungous fan of music, she'll listen to just about anything with a beat (except rap). When I was born she wanted to stick to the tradition of Southeners and give me two first names, a middle name and of course my family name; thing was, she wanted to give it a special twist. It isn’t a surprise to most people when you hear names like: Billy-Bob, Mary-Sue, Sue-Ellen, Donna-Lou, ect... and you find out they're from the South. But, seeing as how I'm of Hispanic decent (My father is full-blooded Mexican, my Mother about half) she wished to give me two Spanish names.

My Father was a bit of a traditionalist, not to mention egotist, and so of course as the first born my name should incorporate his somehow seeing as how I was a female after all. Incorporating their two names and following her strange idea, my Mother chose to name me 'Josefina-Anita Maria Rodriguez'. Try saying that five times fast. Anyway, Josefina is a feminine version of Jose and Anita is often used as a nickname for Anna and Ana. Maria is like the traditional Spanish middle name, so it seemed logical to subject her daughter to this crazy name.

In 1983-1984 just before I was born a song came out that saved me from having to learn to write and say 'Josefina-Anita Maria Rodriguez' in school. The song was "Joanna" by Kool & the Gang.

Song I'm Named After

Joanna
by Kool & the Gang

Joanna, I love you
You're the one, the one for me

I'm in love, and I won't lie
She's my girl and always on my mind
She gives me her love and a feeling that's right
Never lets me down, especially at night

So, I'm gonna do the best I can
To please that girl and be her only man, see
She cheers me up when I feel alone
And that's why baby I've got to let you know

Joanna, I love you
You're the one, the one for me

She's the one, the one for me
She's the kind of girl makes you feel nice, so
I'll try my best to do what's right
Take her for a ride - everything's fine

Joanna, I love you
You're the one, the one for me

Searched so far, searched so long
To find someone - someone to count on
Now I feel I've got it right here
Found it in you, baby, you, my dear

We can do all night, so nice
We'll have it all and everything will be alright
I'm promising you, take it from me
Take it home, baby - take it home, baby

She's the one, the one for me
She's the kind of girl makes you feel nice, so
I'll try my best to do what's right
Take her for a ride - everything's fine

Ooh Joanna
Ooh Joanna

Joanna, I love you
You're the one, the one for me

Joanna, (Yes I love you) I love you
You're the one, the one for me
Believe me babe when I say
Joanna (Yes I love you)
Joanna, Joanna

Anyway, she loved the song and wished to name me after that particular song instead. When she mentioned the switch in name choice to my Father she wisely told him she wanted to name me Joana because it was a combination of Jose and Anna. Luckily he accepted this decision.

So how did I end up with the middle name of Marie instead of Maria? The same way my Mother ended up being named on her birth certificate as 'Anna Marie Jacquez' instead of Ana Maria Jacquez.

When you are born in a predominately Caucasian oriented state, the folks in charge have a nasty habit of Americanizing your name. The reason my name was spelled as Joana instead of Joanna was simply due to my Mother's wish that I have a unique name, which thankfully I do.

Although I have met a handful of Joannas and one Johanna I have never met or seen anyone whose name is spelled or pronounced as mine. =D

Meanings

My fisrt name of Joana - (Joanna, Joan) means 'Lord's Grace' *snrk* interestingly enough. My middle name of Marie (Maria) is defined as 'Stony, Courage', and my last name of Rodriguez means 'descendant of Rodrigo or Roderick'.

Analysis of My Name

Your name of Joana has given you an appreciation of the business world and the handling of finances. You could do well in the sales field. You are ambitious, desire the best in life, and appreciate quality in all things. You are creative, promotional, and versatile, all qualities leading to success in the financial side of your life. However, this name has made you rather aggressive, shrewd, and critical and has caused you to be extremely independent. It is difficult for you to express fully the softer, more feminine qualities that should be a part of your nature. This name creates such a strong, positive nature, that the more sensitive types of people would find it overpowering at times.

Health Problems associated with My Name

It is not easy for you to relax because you feel so much drive. Tension, which is destructive to your health, affects you in the area of the solar plexus and stomach. You could also suffer with problems in the female generative organs.
