About G.A.P
Confused as to what a hatelisting is, let alone why I built this one? You can find the
answer(s) to your questions below!
What is a Hatelisting?
A hatelisting is the exact opposiste of a fanlisting. A Hatelisting lists all of the people
that hate/dislike a particular topic in one place. In this case this is a Hatelisting for
people who hate Anime-Haters.
Why a Haters-Anime (Anime Haters) Hatelisting?
I’ve been active on the net for about 8 years now and within the past couple of years I have
noticed a rise in dislike towards anime. Prior to that I noticed that many people in real
life seem to think that anime equates kid’s cartoons or porn, and thus they hate and
ridicule it. The internet community tends to be more "open minded", but not so much
recently.
Some may have noticed the number of websites out there, such as: fanlistings, review
sites, webrings, message boards, cliques, exchanges, personal sites -are you getting the
picture yet?- that refuse to acknowledge or associate with any person who openly expresses
their love of anime. I have seen people kicked off message boards for posting a
topic about anime, or having an anime based avatar or signature. I have seen the owners of
cliques, fan listings, review sites (WPRs) and what not outright refuse to allow someone
to join or sign up if they like anime, have an anime layout, or any trace of anime
whatsoever on their websites. This foolishness has even extended to email addresses! Yes
folks that's right, if you have an email address like: inuyasha4ever chances are you won't
be allowed to join or sign up at some places.
As a fan of anime I find this to be particularly offensive. I have yet to see any of the
aforementioned sites declare a ban on Britney Spears or Paris Hilton fans. Considering how
screwed up those two are, that's saying something. Do they hate anime so much because it's
popular? Then perhaps they should start banning Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans as
well! Now that show has a humongous fan base, not that I have anything against BtVS mind
you, that's just an example. I happen to be a big BtVS fan myself.
This hatred of anime is senseless, even those who despise it as form of "porn" are not
giving anime a fair shot. After all anybody who knows anything about anime can tell you
that there is a big difference between anime and hentai.
If you are angered by the senseless alienation and exclusion of anime on the net; the
numerous people who seem bound and determined to hate and condemn anime (and it's fans),
whether it be in real life or on the net then show your support and join today!
So does this site promote hatred and flaming of those who hate anime?
Absolutely not! Everyone is entitled to their opinions, however if said opinions are formed
senselessly or are prejudice than others have a right to speak up about it. That is the
purpose of this hatelisting. It is the chance for others who enjoy anime, and who dislike
the thought of people hating anime and those who like it simply because they don't
understand it, to speak up and show their love of anime. I know that there will be people
who take the name of "hatelisting" the wrong way, and there will no doubt be immature
people who will lash back at anime-haters in an inapropriate manner, there's nothing I can
do to stop that. I would however like to stress that this hatelisting does not promote nor
endorse senseless flaming and attacking of anime-haters. Remember, everyone is entitled to
their opinion, no matter how ill-formed or biased it is. As such we are expressing our
hatred/dislike/contempt/disgust for anime-haters/bashers in a unified, dignified, and
mature fashion.
Why the name "Got a Problem"?
Why did I pick that name as the name of the hatelisting? Because it was the best expression
I could come up with that was not miles long and summed up my feelings towards those who
senselessly hate and ridicule the things they do not understand, and by default the people
who enjoy said things.
If someone is staring you down what is one of the things you are likely to say to them?
"Got a Problem?" of course!
